Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Yersiniabactin reduces the respiratory oxidative stress response of innate immune cells. [PDF]
Enterobacteriaceae that contain the High Pathogenicity Island (HPI), which encodes the siderophore yersiniabactin, display increased virulence. This increased virulence may be explained by the increased iron scavenging of the bacteria, which would both ...

Stochastic post-processing calculation of iron losses – application to a PMSM [PDF]
To take account of the uncertainties introduced on the magnetic properties during the manufacturing process, the present work aims to focus on the stochastic modelling of iron losses in electrical machine stators.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Life Cycle Assessment of the Sponge Iron Production Process Using OpenLCA Software: A Case Study of Khuzestan Steel Plant, Iran [PDF]
Background: Since sponge iron is the main feed of steel furnaces for the production of crude steel, especially in electric arc furnaces, the production of quality sponge iron is one of the concerns of the steel industry.
