Permutation representations and rational irreducibility [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2005
The natural character π of a finite transitive permutation group G has the form 1G + θ where θ is a character which affords a rational representation of G. We call G a QI-group if this representation is irreducible over ℚ. Every 2-transitive group is a QI-group, but the latter class of groups is larger.

Low‐Frequency Raman Spectra of Natural Pyrrhotites: Polarization Dependence for Its Lattice Modes

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
The present study found low‐wavenumber Raman modes of pyrrhotite Fe1‐xS at ~68, ~87, ~117, and ~230 cm−1 for the first time, thanks to a lab‐built Raman spectrometer, in which the optical path of the incident laser was purged by Ar gas. The sufficiently high signal‐to‐noise and signal‐to‐base ratios enabled us to obtain the polarization dependence of ...

Beta-deformation in twistor-string theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In this work, we investigate how the marginal beta deformation of the N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super-Yang-Mills theory manifests within the context of the topological B-model in the twistor space CP 3 4 $$ {\mathbbm{CP}}^{\left.3\right|4} $$ . We begin by

Radical Uncertainty and New Sector Emergence: An Action Theory of Co‐Creative Stakeholders

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT For much of the past century, entrepreneurship scholars have sought to understand and assess the nature, role, and impact of uncertainty. While the sum total of this work has contributed valuable insights, radical uncertainty—characterized by dynamic conditions in which outcomes are unknowable at the time action must be taken—remains weakly ...

Ferromagnets from higher SU(N) representations

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We present a general formalism for deriving the thermodynamics of ferromagnets consisting of “atoms” carrying an arbitrary irreducible representation of SU(N) and coupled through long-range two-body quadratic interactions. Using this formalism, we derive

THE POLYTABLOID BASIS EXPANDS POSITIVELY INTO THE WEB BASIS

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2019
We show that the transition matrix from the polytabloid basis to the web basis of the irreducible $\mathfrak{S}_{2n}$-representation of shape $(n,n)$ has nonnegative integer entries. This proves a conjecture of Russell and Tymoczko [Int. Math. Res. Not.,

Temperature‐Dependent Spectroscopy and Laser Performance of Yellow Tb:YLF Lasers with 36% Slope Efficiency at Room Temperature and 61% at 100 K

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Highly efficient cryogenic yellow laser performance of Tb:YLF (Tb3+:LiYF4) is reported. The room temperature slope efficiency of 36% increases to 61% at 100 K, while the wavelength changes from 587 to 581 nm. Moreover, red laser emission at 624 nm with 47% slope efficiency at 78 K is demonstrated.

ON CLASSIFICATION OF YANGIAN IRREDUCIBLE REPRESENTATIONS OF LIE SUPERALGEBRA SL (1, 2)

open access: yesВестник Донского государственного технического университета, 2018
The classification of Yangian irreducible finite-dimensional representations of Lie superalgebra sl(1,2) – Hopf superalgebra is obtained. The classification is of great use in modern theoretical and mathematical physics.
