Detection of Irregular Assignments of Cases to Judges
2022This thesis develops tools to detect irregular assignments of cases to judges and applies them to Ecuador's judicial system. It derives the sharp bounds on the overall, court-specific, and judge-specific probabilities that a case's assignment is inconsistent with existing regulations.

Analysis of dynamic frequency and channel assignment in irregular network environment
The 5th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications, 2003The dynamic frequency and channel assignment (DFCA) is a powerful tool to increase the spectral efficiency of GSM/EDGE synchronized networks and also has the capability to manage varying quality requirements of different user types. Previous studies have proved this ability using regular network scenarios.

Irregular Assignment Computations on cc-NUMA Multiprocessors
2002This paper addresses the parallelization of loops with irregular assignment computations on cc-NUMA multiprocessors. This loop pattern is distinguished by the existence of loop-carried output data dependences that can only be detected at run-time. A parallelization technique based on the inspector-executor model is proposed in this paper.

Secondary structure assignment codes were built to explore the regularities associated with the periodic motifs of proteins, such as those in backbone dihedral angles or in hydrogen bonds between backbone atoms. Precise structure assignment is challenging because real-life secondary structures are susceptible to bending, twist, fraying and other ...

Fast channel assignment in irregular radio systems
Proceedings of International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility ELMAGC-97, 1997A method is presented for channel assignment in irregular radio systems, based on the notion of 'spectral blocks'. It combines speed with the potential to produce more spectrally efficient assignments than previously published algorithms. It could also be used for dynamic channel assignment in personal communications networks.

Does schedule irregularity affect productivity? Evidence from random assignment into college classes
Labour Economics, 2019Abstract Workers with irregular or on-call work schedules constitute up to 17% of the workforce in the US. We identify the causal impact of schedule regularity on productivity by leveraging data from a Vietnamese university where freshmen were randomly assigned into highly-varying course schedules. Some schedules had consistent start times across the

Irregular Assignments and Two Problems à la Ringel
1990One of the best-known facts in graph theory states that any (simple) graph with at least two vertices contains two vertices of the same degree. Hence the following problem, initiated in [5], arises: Consider a weighting w: E(G) → {1,..., m} and denote by \(w(v)=\sum\limits_{\ell \in e}{w(e)}\) the weighted degree of the vertex υ ∈ V.

We address the phase ordering problem of code compaction and register assignment in a data flow graph compiler. During register assignment, we take into account the instruction-level parallelism available. Symbolic variables in straight-line code are allocated to register set/memory location pairs which maximally preserve the freedom available for code

Irregular assignments and vertex-distinguishing edge-colorings of graphs
1992Abstract A coloring g : E(G) → C of the edge-set of a graph G into a color-set C is called vertex-distinguishing if g(St(u)) ≠ g(St(v)) for any two stars. Let c(G) be the minimal number of colors necessary for such a coloring. For k-regular graphs G we clearly have c(G) ≥ C 1 n 1/k , where n is the order of G.

This paper provides a link between causal inference and machine learning techniques—specifically, Classification and Regression Trees—in observational studies where the receipt of the treatment is not randomized, but the assignment to the treatment can be assumed to be randomized (irregular assignment mechanism).
