Effects of Forward Speed and Wave Height on the Seakeeping Performance of a Small Fishing Vessel
The effects of wave height and forward speed on the seakeeping performance of a small fishing vessel in irregular waves are evaluated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Irregular Wave Overtopping of Seawalls [PDF]
This paper discusses recent laboratory tests of irregular wave overtopping of coastal structures being conducted at the Coastal Engineering Research Center (CERC). Current model tests of seawalls has led to an improved method for predicting wave overtopping rates.

Dynamical model for the formation of patterned deposits at receding contact lines [PDF]
We describe the formation of deposition patterns that are observed in many different experiments where a three-phase contact line of a volatile nanoparticle suspension or polymer solution recedes.

Calculating broad neutron resonances in a cut-off Woods-Saxon potential [PDF]
In a cut-off Woods-Saxon (CWS) potential with realistic depth $S$-matrix poles being far from the imaginary wave number axis form a sequence where the distances of the consecutive resonances are inversely proportional with the cut-off radius value, which

Wave energy converters (WECs) exhibit higher energy capture capacity when the wave frequency is close to the nature frequency of the device. A possible way to enhance energy capture efficiency is to modify the nature frequency of a WEC to match the ...

Expected Discharge of Irregular Wave Overtopping
An experiment was carried out on the overtopping of mechanically generated irregular waves over vertical walls. The experimental discharge was almost in agreement with the expected discharge which had been calculated with the wave height histogram and the data of regular wave overtopping based on the principle of linear summation.

Wave chaos in rapidly rotating stars [PDF]
Effects of rapid stellar rotation on acoustic oscillation modes are poorly understood. We study the dynamics of acoustic rays in rotating polytropic stars and show using quantum chaos concepts that the eigenfrequency spectrum is a superposition of ...

Irregular Wave Overtopping Rates
Methods for estimating wave overtopping of coastal structures are reviewed and compared with the very limited available data and with each other. The different methods yield results which can vary more than an order-of-magnitude. For vertical seawalls, the U. S.

MOORED SHIP RESPONSE IN IRREGULAR WAVES
The traditional concept of representing a "random" sea state by just a variance spectral density has been found to be insufficient for modelling the slow drift oscillations of large moored ships. This paper illustrates, through experimental investigations, the importance of including wave grouping as an additional design parameter.
