Irrigated areas drive irrigation water withdrawals [PDF]
AbstractA sustainable management of global freshwater resources requires reliable estimates of the water demanded by irrigated agriculture. This has been attempted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through country surveys and censuses, or through Global Models, which compute irrigation water withdrawals with sub-models on crop types and ...

Irrigants and irrigation activation systems in Endodontics
Abstract Root canal infections are typically polymicrobial and involve strong bacterial interactions. The goal of endodontic treatment is to remove infected content from the root canal system to allow the healing of a pre-existing periapical lesion or to prevent infection of the periradicular tissues.

Irrigation and Autocracy [PDF]
Irrigated agriculture makes societies more likely to be ruled by authoritarian regimes. Ancient societies have long been thought to follow this pattern. We empirically show that irrigation affects political regimes even in the present. To avoid endogeneity, we use geographical and climatic variation to identify irrigation dependent societies.

Evaluation of Sodium Hypochlorite Irrigant, Bingpeng Irrigant, and Fufang Bingpeng Irrigant as Endodontic Irrigants During Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation [PDF]
Given the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance among bacterial strains and the side effects caused by synthetic drugs, it is increasingly important to investigate potential herbal alternatives. In the present study, antimicrobial, cell cytotoxicity, and cleaning tests were performed to evaluate the potential of Fufang Bingpeng irrigant as a ...

Irrigable measures for weighted irrigation plans
<p style='text-indent:20px;'>A model of irrigation network, where lower branches must be thicker in order to support the weight of the higher ones, was recently introduced in [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="b7">7</xref>]. This leads to a countable family of ODEs, describing the thickness of every branch, solved by backward induction.

The Composition of Irrigated and Non-Irrigated Apples [PDF]
Expression is frequently given to an apparently widespread belief that irrigated in comparison with non-irrigated fruits are flat in taste and less resistant to the various agencies which effect decay. In support of that belief this statement in substance is almost invariably advanced: “The irrigated fruits contain abnormally high percentages of water ...

AGES have passed since the cultivator first realised the value of rivers as agents in fertilising the soil. The Nile is the classical illustration, and everyone has learned in early life to think of Egypt as being dependent on the life-giving waters for its fertility. But have the reasons for that ever been sufficiently investigated?

Role of irrigation and wastewater reuse: comparison of subsurface irrigation and furrow irrigation
Two different irrigation systems, subsurface drip irrigation and furrow irrigation, are tested to investigate the level of viral contamination and survival when tertiary effluent is used in arid and semi-arid regions. The effluent was injected with bacteriophages of PRD1 and MS2.
