Effects of long-term irrigation on soil phosphorus fractions and microbial communities in Populus euphratica plantations

open access: yesForestry Research, 2023
Irrigation has been demonstrated to be effective in managing Populus euphratica plantations, but its impacts on phosphorus (P) availability and the soil microbiome have not been fully elucidated.

Evaluating the Effect on Cultivation of Replacing Soil with Typical Soilless Growing Media: A Microbial Perspective

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Bacteria and fungi are good indicators for soil health as well as soilless growing media (SGM) health. However, there is very limited information about the fungal and bacterial communities for SGM.

Las comunidades de regantes ante la legislación de contratos del sector público

open access: yesRevista Vasca de Administración Pública, 2020
This paper addresses the subjection or not of the irrigation communities -and of any communities of public water users- to the Public Sector Contracts Law. This is a contentious issue, as demonstrated by the fact that radically opposed interpretations of

Flood Pulse Irrigation of Meadows Shapes Soil Chemical and Microbial Parameters More Than Mineral Fertilization

open access: yesSoil Systems, 2021
While mineral fertilization increases agricultural yields, it also bears the risk of contaminating non-target ecosystems and negatively affecting soil chemical parameters and microbial communities.

Modelling Contingent Technology Adoption in Farming Irrigation Communities [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation, 2019
Of all the uses of water, agriculture is the one that requires the greatest proportion of resources worldwide. Consequently, it is a salient subject for environmental policy-making, and adoption of modern irrigation systems is a key means to improve water use eficiency.

Microbial communities of continuously cropped, irrigated rice fields [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1997
In continuously cropped, irrigated rice fields, soil microbial biomass as measured by total phospholipid fatty acid concentrations declined during the second half of the crop cycle. This decline was also observed in other components of the microbial community assessed by viable counts, including denitrifiers and sporeformers.
