Water Requirement of Irrigated Garlic

2007 Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 17-20, 2007, 2007
A replicated field trial was conducted on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley to determine the crop coefficient and water requirements of irrigated garlic. Irrigation systems used included simulated furrow irrigation, subsurface drip irrigation, and surface drip irrigation.

Irrigation Water Requirements in Texas

Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1964
The derivation of irrigation water requirements and an explanation of their use for project planning work in Texas is presented in which effective precipitation, consumptive use, farm waste and deep percolation losses, canal and lateral losses, return flows, and diversion requirements are discussed.

Estimating irrigation water requirements in Europe

Journal of Hydrology, 2009
Summary In Southern Europe, irrigated agriculture is by far the largest consumer of freshwater resources. However, consistent information on irrigation water use in the European Union is still lacking. We applied the crop growth model EPIC to calculate irrigation requirements in the EU and Switzerland, combining available regional statistics on crop ...

THE WATER RELATIONS AND IRRIGATION REQUIREMENTS OF COFFEE

Experimental Agriculture, 2001
The role of water in the development and yield of the coffee crop (Coffea arabica L.) is reviewed. A period of water stress, induced either by dry soil or dry air, is needed to prepare flower buds for blossoming that is then stimulated by rain or irrigation.

Assessing Water Requirements for Irrigated Agriculture in Scotland

Water International, 2007
Abstract In Europe the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) will have major implications for water resources management. Part of the Directive requires Member States to implement a comprehensive system of controls (licences) on the allocation and abstraction (withdrawal) of surface and groundwater resources.

WATER REQUIREMENTS OF IRRIGATED SOYBEANS IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1983
Field experiments were conducted from 1979 to 1982 in southern Alberta to determine the seasonal water use of soybeans. Soil moisture was determined every 5–6 days throughout the growing season and irrigation water was applied when soil moisture tension in the top 30 cm reached −40 kPa, with an additional treatment of −60 kPa for 1980 and 1981 ...

Statistical emulators of irrigated crop yields and irrigation water requirements

Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2020
Abstract This study provides statistical emulators of global by gridded crop models included in the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project Fast Track project to estimate irrigated crop yields and associated irrigation water withdrawals simulated at the grid cell level.

Effective Rainfall and Irrigation Water Requirements

Journal of the Irrigation and Drainage Division, 1964
Few studies have been made giving a comprehensive picture of effective rainfall and irrigation water requirements in the United States. The geographical distribution of effective-total rainfall ratios are displayed on two maps for two levels of consumptive use for 22 widely separated stations. This ratio, which varies from less than 50% to greater than

Crop Water Requirement and Irrigation Scheduling

2010
With increasing scarcity and growing competition for water, judicious use of water in agricultural sector will be necessary. This means that exact or correct amount and correct timing of application should be adopted. In addition, it will need more widespread adoption of deficit irrigation, especially in arid and semi-arid regions.
