On the Minimum Average Age of Information in IRSA for Grant-Free mMTC

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2021
We consider the optimal design of the frame-based irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (IRSA) protocol for minimizing the average age of information (AAoI) in grant-free massive machine-type communications (mMTC). To this end, we first characterize the AAoI as a function of the number of user elements (UEs), the frame duration, and the repetition ...

IRSA-based Unsourced Random Access over Gaussian Channel

2023 12th International Symposium on Topics in Coding (ISTC), 2023
Grant-free massive access schemes based on irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (IRSA) are investigated as an option for unsourced random access over the Gaussian multiple access channel. The goal is to carry out a performance analysis over a noisy channel, seeking for achievable limits on packet loss probability and energy efficiency.

Irregular Repetition Slotted ALOHA with Priority (P-IRSA)

2016 IEEE 83rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2016
In this paper, a random access with priority protocol named irregular repetition slotted ALOHA with priority (PIRSA) is introduced. By optimizing the packets repetition and using successive interference cancellation (SIC), irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (IRSA) has achieved a high throughput. Contention resolution diversity slotted ALOHA with access

AUV IRSAS for submarine hydrothermal deposits exploration

2016 IEEE/OES Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV), 2016
Small AUV “IK-A” equipped with IRSAS was developed for submarine hydrothermal deposits exploration. Observed IRSAS data could acquire the back scatter image and bathymetry. One of the features of the seafloor hydrothermal deposits is the chimney and the mound-like terrain. Back scatter image can distinguish these terrain and other terrains.

Detecting the Number of Active Users in IRSA Access Protocols

2018 IEEE 29th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2018
We develop a maximum a posteriori detector for the number of unrecovered users in coded random access systems based on the irregular repeat slotted Aloha (IRSA) protocol, where each user transmits in random slots multiple packet replicas whose number (known as the user degree) is drawn according to a given probability mass function and where successive

Traffic flow effects of Integrated full-Range Speed Assistance (IRSA)

2007 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium, 2007
This paper discusses the assessment of the effects of integrated full-range speed assistance (IRSA), using the ITS modeller. The aim of IRSA is to assist drivers in their longitudinal driving task by providing speed advice or speed warnings and cruise control-like functionalities. The effects of the application of IRSA in three scenarios (approaching a

Throughput Analysis of PDMA/IRSA under Practical Channel Estimation

2019 IEEE 20th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2019
Pattern division multiple access (PDMA) and irregular repetition slotted aloha (IRSA) are non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) protocols wherein packets are repeated across different resource elements. In this paper, first, the throughput of PDMA/IRSA is analyzed when common pilots are employed across users to facilitate channel estimation at the base

Feedback-aided irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (F-IRSA)

2017 9th International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2017
In this paper, we propose a feedback-aided irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (F-IRSA) protocol which depends on the distance between the received packet and the set of packets already recovered at the receiver. We employ feedback messages to terminate the user retransmission process, and use successive interference cancellation (SIC) for packet ...
