EURO-ECOLE: Assessment of the Bioavailability and Potential Ecological Effects of Copper in European Surface Waters ; subproject 4: Evaluation and improvement of the ecological relevance of laboratory generated toxicity data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This report summarizes the acute and chronic toxicity of copper to algae, Daphnia and a few other freshwater species in standard laboratory test water and a wide range of natural surface waters (collected across Europe), with a wide range of pH ...

Temperature Series for 19 Caves Across the Western Italian Alps

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 2, April 2026.
We present a validated temperature dataset from 19 caves in the Western Italian Alps (2012–2025), offering over 160,000 records. Designed for reuse, the data enable future studies on cave microclimates, thermal buffering, and climate sensitivity in subterranean ecosystems. ABSTRACT Caves represent challenging systems for monitoring temperature dynamics.

IRSA-Based Random Access Over the Gaussian Channel

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory
A framework for the analysis of synchronous grant-free massive multiple access schemes based on the irregular repetition slotted ALOHA (IRSA) protocol and operating over the Gaussian multiple access channel is presented. IRSA-based schemes are considered here as an instance of the class of unsourced slotted random access codes, operating over a frame ...

Amorphous Substrate‐Supported Single‐Atom Catalysts: Design Strategies, Electronic Regulation, and Catalytic Applications

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Single‐atom catalysts (SACs) represent a frontier in catalysis, yet their stability and activity are critically dependent on the choice of support material. Recently, amorphous materials have emerged as an ideal platform for hosting SACs, thanks to their long‐range disordered structure that confers abundant defects, dangling bonds, and coordinatively ...

The VLA-COSMOS Survey. II. Source Catalog of the Large Project [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The VLA-COSMOS Large Project is described and its scientific objective is discussed. We present a catalog of ~3600 radio sources found in the 2 deg^2 COSMOS field at 1.4 GHz. The observations in the VLA A and C configuration resulted in a resolution of 1.

Toward Industrial Application of Cyanobacterial Biosorption: Insights From Real Electroplating Effluents

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 4, April 2026.
The study demonstrates that exopolysaccharide‐producing cyanobacteria are effective biosorbents for metals contained in electroplating wastewater. Ni uptake (2.3–2.9 mmol/g) was higher than for precious metals such as palladium (Pd) and gold (Au) (lower than 0.1 mmol/g). D. salina 16Som2 and Cyanothece sp. CE 4 showed the best performances.

Breeding in natural nesting sites can improve the resilience of local Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni) populations to environmental changes

open access: yesIbis, Volume 168, Issue 2, Page 465-478, April 2026.
The identification of key habitats of threatened species and of extrinsic environmental factors that influence their resilience to human‐induced environmental changes are the foundation for the definition of conservation objectives. Using the presence and numerical abundance data collected in a long‐term survey (2000–24) of breeding colonies of Lesser ...

User Activity Detection in Massive Random Access: Compressed Sensing vs. Coded Slotted ALOHA

open access: yes, 2017
Machine-type communication services in mobile cel- lular systems are currently evolving with an aim to efficiently address a massive-scale user access to the system. One of the key problems in this respect is to efficiently identify active users in order

Discovery and Initial Investigation of a New Low Surface Brightness Planetary Nebula Candidate at High Galactic Latitude

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 347, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Planetary nebulae represent a late evolutionary phase of low‐ to intermediate‐mass stars. In this article, we present the serendipitous discovery of a previously unknown, faint potential Galactic planetary nebula (PN) in the constellation Camelopardalis, identified during a survey‐inspection, aiming at the detection of dwarf companions of the ...
