3D‐Printed Patient‐Specific Guides Versus Conventional Techniques for Scaphoid Reconstruction: A Comparative Study of 89 Cases

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Scaphoid non‐union or malunion often produces a three‐dimensional (3D) deformity that alters wrist biomechanics. Patient‐specific instrumentation (PSI) has been introduced to improve reconstruction accuracy, but quantitative comparisons with conventional free‐hand techniques remain limited.

Self‐Texturing Scratch‐Resistant and Bacteria‐Repellent Superhydrophobic Polypropylene Surfaces Through Extrusion‐Based Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 5, May 2026.
One‐step 3D printing combined with in‐situ self‐assembly of behenic acid creates hierarchical polypropylene surfaces with micro‐ and nanostructures. The resulting material exhibits superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of 163 (±2)°, self‐healing, and high scratch resistance, while reducing initial bacterial adhesion by 87%. ABSTRACT Superhydrophobic

When ‘Skilled Migrants’ Becomes an Expansive Category: Multi‐Layered Inequality Among Former International Students in Japan

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 32, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Literature on the social construction of skilled migration has demonstrated how the selective admission of ‘skilled migrants’ by host states produces unequal outcomes, admitting some as ‘skilled’ while excluding others with seemingly similar qualifications.

Why Autonomous Vehicles Are Not Ready Yet: A Multi‐Disciplinary Review of Problems, Attempted Solutions, and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 2254-2341, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Personal autonomous vehicles can sense their surrounding environment, plan their route, and drive with little or no involvement of human drivers. Despite the latest technological advancements and the hopeful announcements made by leading entrepreneurs, to date no personal vehicle is approved for road circulation in a “fully” or “semi ...

Application of Artificial Neural Network and the Monomolecular Model in Describing the Relationship Between Body Weight Gain and Metabolizable Energy Intake in Egg‐Type Pullets

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
Energy utilization in egg‐type pullets is shaped by genetic diversity and body‐weight dynamics. A simple mechanistic model captured interpretable energy–growth relationships, while artificial neural networks improved predictive accuracy, highlighting complementary modelling approaches for understanding and predicting pullet energy dynamics.
