Effects of Ambient Moisture and Large‐Strain Dynamic Preloading on the Dynamic Properties of the EAC‐1A Regolith Simulant

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The EAC‐1A lunar mare simulant, a silty sand, was selected by the European Astronaut Center (EAC) for use in the LUNA analogue facility's lunar simulation testbed. Its stress‐ and strain‐dependent shear modulus and damping ratio were determined via resonant column testing on specimens prepared either from ambient moisture material or oven ...

A Survey on Machine Learning Enhanced Integrated Sensing and Communication Systems: Architectures, Algorithms, and Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access
Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) technology is being developed in wireless communications systems in the sixth generation (6G). ISAC has the advantages of lower cost, better spectral efficiency, and better energy efficiency than systems that ...

Forging environmentalism: The influence of childhood nature experiences on people's pro‐biodiversity value orientations and attitudes

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract With the rapid expansion of transnational biodiversity policy instruments promoting large‐scale landscape transformations that depend on public support for their success and feasibility, understanding the mechanisms underlying pro‐biodiversity attitudes has become important.

Dry intrusions and warm‐core development in Medicanes: Insights from a multi‐case analysis and the peculiar evolution of Ianos

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Mediterranean tropical‐like cyclones show a clear seasonality, with September cyclones exhibiting the deepest convection and Ianos representing the most extreme case. While one or more dry intrusions are typically detected during the cyclone life cycle, Ianos instead features two much weaker descending airflows.

Isac Chiva (1925-2012)

open access: yesTerrain, 2012

Three-model ensemble wind prediction in southern Italy [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2016
Quality of wind prediction is of great importance since a good wind forecast allows the prediction of available wind power, improving the penetration of renewable energies into the energy market.

Prescriptive Positivism: Discourse on Sustainable Development Goal Interactions and Perspectives for a Post‐2030 World

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are unlikely to be achieved by 2030, prompting debate about what should follow. Beyond revision, there is a need to critically examine what values and assumptions have shaped how the SDGs are conceptualised and operationalised.

Microarrayed Allergen Molecules Distinguish IgE Sensitisation to Blomia tropicalis and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study established a microarray containing a representative panel of purified Blo t and Der p allergens for the identification of patients sensitised to Blo t and/or Der p. Results indicate that the microarray based on Blo t and Der p allergens is a useful tool for the identification of Blo t‐ and/or Der p‐sensitised patients. The microarray may be
