High sensitive C-reactive protein and ischemic heart disease, a population- based study
Background: The measurement of high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) serum concentration has been suggested as an inflammatory agent in screening of high risk individuals for ischemic heart disease.

Light wavelength encodes distinct macrophage fates through mitochondrial and metabolic remodeling. Red 625 nm irradiation induces glycolysis, mitochondrial fission, and M1 polarization, whereas near‐infrared 850 nm irradiation promotes fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial fusion, and M2 polarization.

Epsilon‐near‐zero (ENZ) silicon carbide enables a selective far‐infrared emitter spectrally aligned with the human skin window around 10 µm for wavelength‐matched thermal therapy. In 25 within‐subject trials (50 hands) monitored by laser speckle contrast imaging, SiC increases blood perfusion by 30.2% versus a broadband graphite emitter while ...

Here we developed Am@SExo, a dual‐functional engineered exosome that coordinates CD47–SIRPα checkpoint blockade with Arg1 mRNA–mediated metabolic reprogramming. Surface SIRPα promotes recognition of apoptotic cells and plaque targeting, while Arg1 expression enhances arginine–ornithine metabolism, Rac1 activation, and actin remodeling in macrophages ...

A brain‐targeted nanoparticle enables delivery of a therapeutic nanobody (Nb.29E9) that inhibits pathogenic GSK3β signaling. This intervention restores AMPK/mTORC1/TGFβ homeostasis, attenuates neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, and promotes long‐term functional recovery after ischemic stroke.

This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...

In response to hypertrophic stimuli, increased c‑JUN phosphorylation upregulates RNF115, leading to SPTBN1 ubiquitination and degradation. which promotes F‑actin depolymerization and YAP activation, driving cardiac hypertrophy. The RNF115 inhibitor DTD effectively suppresses SPTBN1 ubiquitination and cardiac hypertrophy.

Panama: Ischemic Heart Disease
This public health brief draws attention to the issue of ischemic heart disease that is currently plaguing Panama. Due largely to the dietary culture of the country, ischemic heart disease remains the number one health-related killer of Panamanians. Over
