Mitral valve repair for ischemic mitral insufficiency

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1991
Over a 5-year period, 1,292 patients had operation on their native mitral valves. Ischemia was the cause of mitral insufficiency in 84 patients (6.5%). Sixty-five patients (77.4%) had mitral valve repair. Mean age was 66 +/- 10 years; 35 patients (53.8%) were women.

Mitral Valve Reconstruction and Mitral Valve Replacement for Ischemic Mitral Insufficiency

Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 1997
Patients with ischemic mitral incompetence have a high operative risk whether the valve is repaired or replaced. The advantage of repair over replacement is unclear in this group of patients.Between April 1986 and December 1994, 232 patients underwent surgery for ischemic mitral valve insufficiency; mitral valve replacement was performed in 98 of them.

Evaluation of right and left ventricular function in patients with ischemic heart disease complicated by mitral insufficiency.

Kardiologiia, 2022
Aim      To evaluate the right and left ventricular function and their interaction in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) complicated with mitral valve insufficiency (MVI) according to data of echocardiography (EchoCG) with the strain in gray ...

[Paroxysmal ischemic mitral valve insufficiency].

Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 1999
The prognosis of patients with coronary artery disease may be threatened by ischaemic mitral regurgitation. Apart from rupture of a papillary muscle which requires rapid valve replacement. Chronic ischaemic papillary muscle dysfunction can often be a severe complication of ischaemic heart disease.

[Prognosis of ischemic mitral valve insufficiency].

Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 1991
Seventy-nine patients with ischemic mitral regurgitation were followed up for a period of 20 +/- 8 months. The risk of death increased with age and cardiac failure at the time of inclusion. The risk of cardiac events increased with these factors and also with raised serum creatinine and decreased echocardiographic fractional shortening.

The influence of revascularization on ischemic mitral insufficiency

1991
Since Doppler echocardiography in clinical medicine we know that mitral regurgitation (MR) is a very common if not physiological phenomenon. Left ventricular angiography demonstrates regurgitation into the left atrium much less frequently -usually only if echocardiography demonstrates retrograde flow throughout systole. Left ventricular angiography has

Repair of Mitral Insufficiency on an Ischemic Basis

1987
The operative risk in patients with severe mitral insufficiency on an ischemic basis who receive a mitral prosthesis in addition to coronary bypass grafting is not negligible. Furthermore, the long-term results of surgery in this group of patients are rather poor when compared with those obtained in patients who only undergo myocardial ...

[The surgical treatment of chronic ischemic mitral insufficiency].

Giornale italiano di cardiologia, 1999
Operative correction of chronic ischemic mitral regurgitation (CIMR) is associated with a high-risk approach. The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate the short- and long-term results of surgical treatment of CIMR.From 1989 to 1997, mitral valve replacement or repair was performed on 46 patients with CIMR.
