Summary An 18‐year‐old Warmblood mare was presented to the Royal Veterinary College Equine Referral Hospital for investigation of progressive periocular and facial swelling, weight loss and tachycardia. Physical examination additionally identified bilateral pansystolic (grade 5/6 basilar left‐sided, 2/6 right‐sided), cardiac murmurs, submandibular ...

The Condition of the Coronary Arteries in Patients with Ischemic Mitral Insufficiency
Secondary (or functional) mitral regurgitation is the result of myocardial dysfunction due to ischemic injury with relatively normal cusps. In patients with ischemic mitral insufficiency, only surgical coronary artery bypass grafting can affect the ...

Summary A 4‐year‐old, 6‐month pregnant, Welsh pony mare presented with severe acute clinical signs including depression, anorexia, pale mucous membranes, tachycardia with a grade 4/6 holosystolic murmur and moderate expiratory dyspnoea with diffuse wheezes. There was no evidence of placentitis or fetal distress.

OPCABG for Moderate CIMR in Elderly Patients: a Superior Option?
Objective: To compare the early and late outcomes of off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting and coronary artery bypass graft + mitral valve repair in elderly patients with moderate chronic ischemic mitral regurgitation.

Long-term Outcomes of Surgical Correction of Ischemic Mitral Regurgitation
Objective: To evaluate long-term outcomes of mitral valve annuloplasty using an autologous pericardial strip (“soft support ring” type) and a rigid support ring in combination with coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) in patients with ischemic mitral ...

Echocardiographic evaluation of mitral geometry in functional mitral regurgitation
Objectives We sought to evaluate the geometric changes of the mitral leaflets, local and global LV remodeling in patients with left ventricular dysfunction and varying degrees of Functional mitral regurgitation (FMR).

Displays bar graphs showing outcome rates stratified by clinical and hemodynamic variables. Asterisks (*) denote statistically significant differences (p ≤ 0.05). “NS” indicates non‐significant comparisons. Percentages are shown above each bar. The top panel corresponds to acute kidney injury (blue bars), and the bottom panel corresponds to acute ...

Ovine Model of Ischemic Mitral Regurgitation [PDF]
Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) is a common complication of ischemic heart disease that doubles mortality after myocardial infarction and is a major driving factor increasing heart failure. IMR is caused by left ventricular (LV) remodeling which displaces the papillary muscles that tether the mitral valve leaflets and restrict their closure.
