Comparative Digital Estrogen Receptor Alpha (ERα) Expression Analysis in Benign and Malignant Prostate Tissue of Men and Dogs

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 86, Issue 5, Page 568-581, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The dog is the only large mammal, other than humans, that commonly develops spontaneous prostate cancer (PCa) and is, therefore, considered a valuable model for comparative studies. Estrogens are critical for normal prostate development and contribute to prostatic carcinogenesis in men.

A PLETHORA3/7 transcription factor shapes cucumber shoot architecture

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 1, Page 230-245, April 2026.
Summary PLETHORA transcription factors (PLTs) are master regulators of plant development. Loss of shoot meristematic PLTs leads to reduced phyllotactic regularity and robustness in Arabidopsis and increased inflorescence branching in tomato. Whether these factors have similar functions in other species is not known.

Moral certainty and the wrongness of killing: A non‐propositional view

open access: yesPhilosophical Investigations, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 170-194, April 2026.
Abstract In 2008 I published a paper making the case that Wittgenstein's On Certainty reflections can be fruitfully extended to cast light on the foundations of our moral lives and practices. My primary example was that the wrongness of killing is a basic moral certainty.

Urban Heat Island in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East: Multi‐City Approach in Regional Climate Modelling

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 4, 30 March 2026.
This study presents that the WRF model, coupled with bulk urban parameterization, effectively captures the summer urban heat island (UHI) patterns across the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, showing stronger night‐time surface UHIs (5°C–6°C) and daytime surface cool islands (up to 12.5°C).
