Quantifying the Equine Pain Response to Paracetamol Administration in Horses With Chronic Lameness Already Receiving Non‐Steroidal Anti‐Inflammatories

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
In geriatric horses with chronic lameness receiving NSAIDs, adjunct oral paracetamol (20 mg/kg BID) showed no significant improvement in lameness severity. Weekly subjective scoring and objective gait analysis revealed no differences versus baseline or post‐treatment, indicating limited additional analgesic benefit in this population.

Interrogating the Effects of Technologies of Pregnancy Surveillance on Queer, Trans and Nonbinary Midwifery Service‐Users

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 48, Issue 7, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Queer, transgender and nonbinary (QTNB) people access midwifery services, yet little is known about their experiences of midwifery care. Our qualitative study used critical narrative inquiry to examine how QTNB midwifery service‐users in Ontario, Canada, experience cisheteronormativity in healthcare.

Critical Research Spaces as Scholarship: an Ethnography Lab as an Apparatus for the Experimental, the Imaginary, and the Relational

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 128, Issue 3, Page 469-479, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The creation of critical research spaces, such as ethnography labs, studios, and other collaborative research environments, requires attention and attunement in anthropology to focus on the kinds of imaginative and generative spaces where creative ethnographic research can unfold as scholarship.

A Unified Deep Learning Framework for Instance Segmentation Across Diverse Cytological Stains

open access: yesCytopathology, Volume 37, Issue 5, Page 493-502, September 2026.
Transformer‐based unified cytology segmentation across Papanicolaou, Feulgen and AgNOR achieves stain‐invariant performance. Mask2Former maximises boundary precision (AP75) on the combined dataset, enabling one model to replace multiple stain‐specific deployments without accuracy loss while simplifying clinical integration.

Patterns of Autonomous and Conditional Neural Specification for the Brain and Ventral Nerve Cord in Annelida

open access: yesEvolution &Development, Volume 28, Issue 3, September 2026.
Diagrams of blastomere isolations in Capitella teleta and Platynereis dumerilii showing autonomous head neural tissue (from 1q) and trunk neural tissue (from 2d) as well as a decoupling of D–V axis formation from trunk neural tissue in annelids. ABSTRACT Evolution of central nervous systems is a long‐debated topic.
