MDL‐800‐induced SIRT6 activation decreases age‐associated osteoarthritis in mice

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective SIRT6 is a nuclear‐localized histone deacetylase that regulates multiple pathways associated with aging. This study aimed to determine whether systemic administration of a small molecule activator of SIRT6, MDL‐800, decreases the severity of age‐associated osteoarthritis (OA) in mice.

Synthesis and Structures of Novel Chiral Cyclic Hypervalent Iodine(III) Reagents for Metal‐Free Ligand‐Transfer Reactions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Several new chiral cyclic hypervalent iodine(III) reagents have been synthesized and characterized. Carbon‐based ligands were successfully installed onto the hypervalent iodine centers, giving thus access to novel chiral cyano‐, trifluoromethyl‐ or alkynyl‐bearing λ3‐iodanes.

Comparison of a Smartphone Application with Ishihara Pseudoisochromatic Plate for Testing Colour Vision [PDF]

open access: yesNeuro-Ophthalmology, 2018
The Eye Handbook (EHB) is the most frequently downloaded smartphone application with diagnostic tools for eye-care providers. However, limited data exists validating the EHB test to gold standard colour vision testing. EHB and Ishihara colour vision tests were evaluated and compared under simulated colour vision loss through use of image processing ...

Evaluating the impact of an AI‐powered chatbot on epilepsy education and stigma reduction: A pre‐post intervention study using EpiloBot

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Effective epilepsy management requires accurate epilepsy knowledge, active patient engagement, and stigma reduction to improve health outcomes. Educational interventions have been shown to enhance patients' quality of life (QOL) and knowledge. This study evaluated the effectiveness of EpiloBot, an artificial intelligence (AI)‐powered

Treatment‐Related Adverse Events and Health‐Related Quality of Life Associated With Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Treatment for Mucosal Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Scoping Review

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Supportive care needs of patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) are ill‐defined. Hence, known treatment‐related adverse events (TRAEs) and health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) associated with ICI treatment for HNSCC were examined to inform future supportive care ...

Coloured filters can simulate colour deficiency in normal vision but cannot compensate for congenital colour vision deficiency

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Red-green colour vision deficiency (CVD) affects ~ 4% of Caucasians. Notch filters exist to simulate CVD when worn by colour vision normal (CVN) observers (simulation tools), or to improve colour discrimination when worn by CVD observers (compensation ...
