Early life movements and mortality of Egyptian vultures: Implications for transcontinental conservation. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We used data from 32 Egyptian vultures (Neophron percnopterus) tagged with GPS transmitters as nestlings in three Iberian breeding areas to study their dependence period, migration routes, movements in Africa, and mortality at each stage. Our results show no significant differences in the timing of nest departure or the duration of the dependence ...

Large-scale study on virological and serological prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in cats and dogs in Spain. [PDF]

open access: yesTransbound Emerg Dis, 2022
Abstract The disease produced by the severe acute respiratory syndrome‐related coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) is currently one of the primary concerns worldwide. Knowing the zoonotic origin of the disease and that several animal species, including dogs and cats, are susceptible to viral infection, it is critical to assess the relevance of pets in this ...

Flower visits of cockroaches (Insecta: Blattodea) in the Iberian Peninsula: Are they neglected pollinators?

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 147, Issue 8, Page 565-576, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Although several insect orders have been deeply studied in plant–animal interactions (e.g. pollination) cockroaches have traditionally been ignored in taxonomic and ecological studies. However, they could be playing a role in the reproduction of several plants. To date, 8 plant species use cockroaches as a pollination agent.

Law‐books, concomitant texts and ethnically framed legal pluralism on the fringes of post‐Carolingian Europe: northern Italy and Catalonia around 1000

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 30, Issue 4, Page 536-557, November 2022., 2022
Around 1000, a new type of law‐book emerged in Catalonia and northern Italy that attests to new ways of handling legal material. Incorporating in full the Visigothic and Lombard law codes, respectively, these law‐books provided a base for studying and interpreting old law through comments, glosses etc., addressing new users such as lay judges.

High Vapor Transport Deposition: A Novel Process to Develop Cu2ZnSn(SxSe1–x)4 Thin Film Solar Cells

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2022., 2022
The process called high vapor transport deposition is applied for the first time to deposit kesterite absorber films. The main advantage of this process is the fine tuning capabilities to control the desired stoichiometry in the absorber layer. Additionally, the process allows a high deposition rate and low temperature in the evaporation cells where ...
