An All‐Optical Driven Bio‐Photovoltaic Interface for Active Control of Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐photovoltaic Interface (BIO‐PV‐I) for live cell manipulation is presented. BIO‐PV‐I can be activated non‐invasively and remotely to control the spatial motility, adhesion, and morphology of cells adhering to it. BIO‐PV‐I uses a patterned light‐induced electric potential in iron‐doped lithium niobate crystals whose light‐driven and reversible nature,

In-depth investigation of phase transition phenomena in network models derived from lattice models

open access: yesAIP Advances
Lattice models exhibit significant potential in investigating phase transitions, yet they encounter numerous computational challenges. To address these issues, this study introduces a Monte Carlo-based approach that transforms lattice models into a ...

On the $p,q$-binomial distribution and the Ising model

open access: yes, 2010
A completely new approach to the Ising model in 1 to 5 dimensions is developed. We employ $p,q$-binomial coefficients, a generalisation of the binomial coefficients, to describe the magnetisation distributions of the Ising model.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Transport Properties of a One-Dimensional Two-Component Quantum Liquid with Hyperbolic Interactions

open access: yes, 1994
We present an investigation of the sinh-cosh (SC) interaction model with twisted boundary conditions. We argue that, when unlike particles repel, the SC model may be usefully viewed as a Heisenberg-Ising fluid with moving Heisenberg-Ising spins.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Mean-field calculation of some magnetic properties of Ising thin-films [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2005
In this work, the magnetic properties of Ising thin-films were investigated as a function of temperature and thickness by means of mean-field calculation.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

Nonlinear Dynamics for the Ising Model

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics
AbstractWe introduce and analyze a natural class of nonlinear dynamics for spin systems such as the Ising model. This class of dynamics is based on the framework of mass action kinetics, which models the evolution of systems of entities under pairwise interactions, and captures a number of important nonlinear models from various fields, including ...
