Platonopolis in Islam: Al‐Farabi's Perfect State
2005Abstract This chapter discusses the theory of the perfect state developed by the Islamic philosopher al-Farabi. It is shown that in many respects, al-Farabi’s perfect state corresponds to the political paradigm that is found in the Neoplatonist philosophers of Late Antiquity, a paradigm adapted to al-Farabi’s context and interests.
