Biogeography of intertidal invertebrates is influenced by latitude along the west coast of Australia

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Along the west coast of Australia, intertidal rock platforms support high invertebrate diversities that provide vital ecosystem services, yet patterns in diversity are not well understood. Here, we document and examine the invertebrate assemblages on intertidal rock platforms in Western Australia and delineate ecoregions according to assemblage ...

Tracing the origins and evolution of nymphalid butterflies (Lepidoptera) in the Atlantic Forest

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Understanding the relative roles of diversification and dispersal is key to explaining large‐scale biogeographical patterns. Although both processes are known to shape biodiversity, their relative contributions remain understudied for many organisms. Here, we examine how these processes have jointly contributed to the exceptional diversity and endemism

A Representational Approach to the Wh-Island Constraint

open access: yesA Representational Approach to the Wh-Island Constraint
application/pdf Journal Article This paper argues for a representational approach to the Wh-Island Constraint (WhIC), contra the derivational one in Chomsky (2000). Specifically, it is proposed that the WhIC can be deduced from a proper application of Cyclic Linearization, a PFrepresentational constraint.

From distant shores to an emerging island: the role of surface and subsurface transport in modeling seed dispersal

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Long‐distance seed dispersal by ocean currents plays a critical role in structuring coastal plant communities. As direct observations of this phenomenon are infeasible, numerical modeling is a valuable tool. Here, we use Lagrangian particle tracking to examine the colonization of the newly forming island Norderoogsand (German Bight, Wadden Sea) by five

Multi‐Dimensional Conductive Nanocomposites for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Multi‐dimensional conductive nanocomposites integrate 0D, 1D, and 2D nanomaterials through spatial structure regulation and interface engineering, achieving “1 + 1 > 2” synergistic effects. By leveraging 0D filling to reduce contact resistance, 1D bridging to construct continuous conductive paths, and 2D supporting to enhance mechanical stability ...

Controlled Islanding Strategy Considering Power System Restoration Constraints

open access: yes
This paper proposes a methodology to split the power system across the weak areas of the network affected by a large disturbance, which might lead to a total system blackout. The final splitting strategy is carried out by opening the transmission lines with minimum power exchanged, i.e. by minimising the power exchange between areas.
