Surface roughness and height-height correlations dependence on thickness of YBaCuO thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
For high Tc superconducting multilayer applications, smooth interfaces between the individual layers are required. However, in general, e.g., YBaCuO grows in a 3D screw-dislocation or island nucleation growth mode, introducing a surface roughness.

STUDY OF AN ARTIFICIAL ISLAND

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1976
The location of large surface industrial zones along sea shores often competes with other coastal activities, such as recreational pursuits, fishing, nature reserves, etc. The construction of an artificial island in the sea, near the shore, is a solution to which it will perhaps be necessary to have recourse in the fairly near future.

Quantitative relationships between benthic diatom assemblages and water chemistry in Macquarie Island lakes and their potential for reconstructing past environmental changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This study is the first published survey of diatom-environment relationships Oil sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island. Fifty-eight sites in 50 coastal and inland lakes were sampled for benthic diatoms and water chemistry. 208 diatom species from 34 genera were
