Machine Learning-Based Image Pattern Recognition Using Histogram of Oriented Gradient for Islanding Detection

open access: yesIEEE Access
A vital issue faced by the distribution network is the occurrence of unintentional islanding. The failure to identify unintentional islanding results in significant implications for both the power system and human lives.

Temperature‐Modulated Threshold Response in a Volatile Memristor: Toward a Biomimetic Polymodal Nociceptive System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an artificial polymodal nociceptor whose firing threshold is actively modulated by temperature. A volatile TiN/TiOx/ZnO/TiOx/ITO memristor shows interfacial ion–driven resistive switching and membrane‐potential‐like dynamics, enabling temperature‐dependent nociceptive behavior.

An Effective Method for Islanding Detection Based on Variational Mode Decomposition

open access: yesElectrica, 2019
The present study presents a new islandingdetection method based on variational mode decomposition (VMD). In the method, the VMD transform of the voltage at point of common coupling is calculated, andthen based on the decomposed modes, an islanding ...

Central islands after LASIK detected by corneal topography

open access: yesKorean Journal of Ophthalmology, 2001
A central island is defined as a localized elevated area in corneal topography after excimer laser application for myopic correction. We experienced 15 cases of central islands developed 1 week after LASIK using VISX STAR on corneal topography. The uncorrected visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity were 0.52 +/- 0.22, 0.66 +/- 0.25 in central ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,
