Certain aspects of regularity in scalar field cosmological dynamics

open access: yes, 2007
We consider dynamics of the FRW Universe with a scalar field. Using Maupertuis principle we find a curvature of geodesics flow and show that zones of positive curvature exist for all considered types of scalar field potential.

Kinetic Monte Carlo simulation of faceted islands in heteroepitaxy using multi-state lattice model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A solid-on-solid model is generalized to study the formation of Ge pyramid islands bounded by (105) facets on Si(100) substrates in two dimensions. Each atomic column is not only characterized by the local surface height but also by two deformation state

Evaluating a Pragmatic Strength Alternative for Frailty Measurement and Assessing Its Predictive Capacity Against Established Frailty Instruments in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Frailty occurs prematurely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with poor health outcomes. We compared the performance of four frailty instruments, including a pragmatic alternative measure using chair sit‐to‐stand (STS), and evaluated their abilities to predict poor health outcomes.

Karl Ristikivi Vahemere-ruum / Karl Ristikivi’s Mediterranean space

open access: yesMethis: Studia Humaniora Estonica, 2014
Karl Ristikivi (1912–1977) was a well-travelled Estonian writer whose imaginative spatial images are based equally on landscapes he actually experienced and on journeys he perhaps traced on a map with his finger and followed in his imagination.

Scaling of Island Growth in Pb Overlayers on Cu(001)

open access: yes, 1993
The growth and ordering of a Pb layer deposited on Cu(001) at 150 K has been studied using atom beam scattering. At low coverage, ordered Pb islands with a large square unit cell and nearly hexagonal internal structure are formed.

Prevalence of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Australia, 2010–2022: A Population‐Based Study Using Linked National Administrative Health Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogenous inflammatory condition with widely varying global prevalence estimates. The frequency of SLE in the general population of Australia has been reported to be notably lower than contemporary estimates in countries such as the United States or United Kingdom, at 19 to 39 per 100,000 as opposed ...

Tourism demand and migration nexus in Small Island Developing States (SIDS): applying the tourism demand model in the Pacific region

open access: yesIsland Studies Journal, 2019
This paper demonstrates the nexus of tourism demand and the migrants from small island developing states (SIDS) in the Pacific region using an econometric approach. Emigrants are an important element of island society. The tourism industry is crucial for

Associations of Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Activity With Frailty Over Five Years of Follow‐up

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To evaluate whether rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity is associated with frailty both in cross‐section and longitudinally. Methods Participants within the Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis (VARA) registry enrolled from 2003 to 2022 were included.
