Observables in 3-dimensional quantum gravity and topological invariants
In this paper we report some results on the expectation values of a set of observables introduced for 3-dimensional Riemannian quantum gravity with positive cosmological constant, that is, observables in the Turaev-Viro model.

Abstract Biodiversity is globally threatened by human impacts, including land‐use transformation and climate change, which has prompted a rapid transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources, such as photovoltaic (PV) energy. However, utility‐scale PV plants require vast areas and can lead to conflicts with biodiversity conservation, making ...

The linguistic - cultural nature of scientific truth [PDF]
While we typically think of culture as defined by geography or ethnicity (e.g., American culture, Mayan culture), the term also applies to the practices and expectations of smaller groups of people. Though embedded in the larger culture surrounding them,

Coinvasional disruptions to island pollinator networks
Abstract Biological invasions can adversely affect pollinator diversity by threatening the maintenance of animal‐pollinated plant communities. Although most studies have examined single invasive species, accelerating species introductions driven by global trade highlight the need to understand how multiple co‐occurring invaders jointly influence ...

Scientists’ warning on the global destruction of rock outcrop ecosystems
Abstract Rock outcrops are geological formations that harbor a highly specialized biota adapted to harsh environmental conditions that differ from their surrounding landscapes. They are globally distributed, especially in old, highly weathered landscapes, and can function as habitat islands containing high levels of endemism and distinct evolutionary ...
