Erwin Schrödinger und die Versuchungen der (Wissenschafts‐)Biografik: Vorurteilsgefüge und Mechanismen der Skandalisierung

open access: yesBerichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte, EarlyView.
Since late 2021, serious allegations have been made against physicist Erwin Schrödinger, ranging from pedophilia to serial sexual abuse. These accusations have significantly tarnished the Nobel Prize winner's public reputation. The ongoing debate has repeatedly raised the question of whether, and to what extent, these grave allegations are justified ...

Dark Matter and Metal Abundances in Elliptical Galaxies from X-ray Observations of the Hot ISM

open access: yes, 1998
I review the results of recent analysis and interpretation of X-ray observations of elliptical galaxies, focusing on elemental abundances and dark matter. The hot ISM is characterized by subsolar Fe abundances and solar Si-to-Fe ratios; and, I compare these with stellar abundances and discuss implications of these measurements.

Nanomaterial‐based immune therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights the immunomodulatory potential of nanomaterials (NMs) in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). It focuses on their roles in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses to maintain immune homeostasis. By providing insights into these mechanisms, the review lays the groundwork for innovative NMs therapeutic strategies to ...

Individualised niches: an integrative conceptual framework across behaviour, ecology, and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Individuals differ. While seemingly trivial, this insight has nevertheless led to paradigm shifts, as three key fields of organismal biology have seen marked changes in key concepts over the past few decades. In animal behaviour, it has become increasingly recognised that behavioural differences among individuals can be stable over time and ...

Large scale excitation of the ISM in NGC 1068

open access: yes, 1990
Researchers have shown that photoionization by the continuum of the hidden Seyfert I nucleus in NGC 1068 can have a significant effect on the ionization state and energetics of this disk's Interstellar Medium (ISM).

A Systemic Model for Understanding Business Interactions With Biodiversity and Ecosystems

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation represent critical threats to human well‐being and economic resilience, challenging businesses to understand and manage their interdependence with natural systems. This study develops a systemic framework—the BioModel—that elucidates the reciprocal relationship between businesses, biodiversity, and ...

Multi-wavelength probes of the Milky Way’s Cold Interstellar Medium: Radio H i and Optical K i Absorption with GASKAP and GALAH

open access: yes
We present a comparative analysis of interstellar hydrogen (H i) and potassium (K i) absorption from the radio and optical surveys, GASKAP and GALAH, to study the physical and kinematic properties of the cold interstellar medium (ISM) in the Milky Way ...

The Cosmic-Ray Contribution to LiBeB: Interpretation of LiBeB Abundances from CRIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The bulk of galactic Li, Be, and B (LiBeB) abundances is believed to be created during energetic inelastic collisions of cosmic-ray and interstellar medium (ISM) nuclei.
