Dynamical Solar Wind Forecasting Using In Situ Solar Wind Speed Observations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract Accurate prediction of the ambient solar wind at Earth is a key requirement for space‐weather forecasting but is limited by uncertainties in coronal boundary conditions and, to a lesser extent, heliospheric transport. We present a quantitative assessment of a solar wind forecast that uses near‐Earth in situ solar wind observations to estimate ...

Medical Decision‐Making Capacity in Early‐Stage Alzheimer Patients: Comparison With Healthy Controls and Benefit of Assistive Information

open access: yesPsychogeriatrics, Volume 26, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Early‐stage Alzheimer Disease (AD) may lead to restricted decision‐making capacity and without standardized instruments, there is great variability in determining patients' ability to give consent. This study aimed to assess decision‐making capacity of AD patients in comparison to a healthy control group and investigated the ...

Cosmogenic 10Be as a Tracer for Recent Heliospheric Encounters With Interstellar Cold Clouds and Nearby Supernovae

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Recent works suggest there are periods when the Sun encountered massive interstellar cold clouds which compressed the heliosphere to within Earth's orbit, exposing Earth to interstellar galactic cosmic rays and energetic particles of heliospheric origin.

Different Orbital Controls on Detrital Magnetic Components in the Ninety‐East Ridge Since the Late Pleistocene

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Magnetic minerals preserved in marginal‐sea sediments can serve as distinct fingerprints for unraveling paleoenvironmental evolution. However, the forcing mechanisms that govern the transport and accumulation of individual magnetic minerals at orbital timescales remain poorly constrained.

Sparse‐Aperture Quasi‐Achromatic Spintronic Terahertz Emitter Enabled by Binary‐Phase Metasurface and Multi‐Spectral Intensity Optimization

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 19, 13 October 2026.
We propose a sparse‐aperture shared‐aperture design with multispectral intensity optimization, enabling a Pt/W binary‐phase metasurface directly integrated with a spintronic emitter. The device achieves quasi‐achromatic focusing across 1.0–1.5 THz, with intensity fluctuation below 33% and edge preservation above 0.68.
