Effect of intraventricular injections of brain isoantibodies on learning

Experimental Neurology, 1971
Abstract The present method of assessing the effects of anti-brain isoantibody on learning involves multiple slow intraventricular injections of serum γ-globulin (IgG) into the lateral ventricles of chronically prepared unanesthetized subjects.

Isoantibodies to Human IgM: Serologic and Immunochemical Investigations

The Journal of Immunology, 1971
Abstract A total of 378 serum samples was tested for anti-IgM activity using 15 different Waldenström's macroglobulins. For detection of the antibodies, a passive hemagglutination assay with CrCl3 as coupling agent was employed. Anti-IgM antibodies were found in 16 sera.

The purpose of immunity: Landsteiner's interpretation of the human isoantibodies

Journal of the History of Biology, 1975
In the 1890's, when immunology was beginning to develop, there was no difficulty in fitting it into the Darwinian pattern of survival of the fittest. The phagocytes in Elie Metchnikoff's theory of immunity and the serum antibodies in the theory of Emil von Behring both had an obvious role in the defense of the organism against attacking bacteria ...

The effect of isoantibody on the respiration of IC-strain lymphosarcoma cells ?in vitro?

Zeitschrift fr Krebsforschung, 1969
1. The respiration of IC strain lymphosarcoma ascites cells (LS 1/IC) examined in vitro is strongly inhibited in the presence of cytotoxic isoantibody and complement. The respiratory changes can be easily measured with a Clark microelectrode connected to a GME oxygraph. 2.

A Naturally Occurring Monospecific Anti‐HL‐A8 Isoantibody

Tissue Antigens, 1973
Aided in part by a grant from the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research. A case is reported of a 34‐year‐old female with chronic thyroiditis, multiple upper respiratory ailments, and a monospecific anti‐HL–A8 lymphocytotoxic isoantibody occurring in her serum in the absence of prior pregnancy or transfusion.

ISOANTIBODIES TO EPIDIDYMAL SPERM ANTIGENS IN BALB/c STRAIN OF MICE

Australian Journal of Experimental Biology and Medical Science, 1983
SummaryFemale mice of the BALB/c isogenic strain were immunized with epididymal sperm of the male mice. Four antigenic perparations were used: whole sperm (WS), homogenized sperm (HS), protein fraction (PF) and lipid fraction (LF). Antisera were assayed for antibody activity by sperm immobilization and indirect immunofluorescence tests.

The Ultrastructure of Isoantibody‐Induced Decay of Human Lymphocytes in Vitro

Tissue Antigens, 1971
The ultrastructure of human lymphocytes incubated with isoantibody + complement was studied. The changes observed were correlated to the results of the lymphocytotoxic dye‐exclusion test performed at various intervals during the incubation period. Parallels could be drawn between the degree of decay as assessed by electron‐microscopic studies and the ...

Irregular Isoantibodies in the Sera of Patients Undergoing Chronic Hemodialysis

The International Journal of Artificial Organs, 1991
We screened 89 patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis for irregular isoantibodies. Irregular isoantibodies were detected in six patients (6.7%). This is an extremely high percentage compared with previous reports, considering that the presence of irregular isoantibodies was estimated to be 2.91% in multiparas, in whom they were found most frequently.
