Toothbrushing Systematics Index (TSI) - A new tool for quantifying systematics in toothbrushing behaviour. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Systematics is considered important for effective toothbrushing. A theoretical concept of systematics in toothbrushing and a validated index to quantify it using observational data is suggested.

Myelination and isochronicity in neural networks [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroanatomy, 2009
Our brain contains a multiplicity of neuronal networks. In many of these, information sent from presynaptic neurons travels through a variety of pathways of different distances, yet arrives at the postsynaptic cells at the same time.

Autonomic effects of music in health and Crohn's disease: the impact of isochronicity, emotional valence, and tempo. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Music can evoke strong emotions and thus elicit significant autonomic nervous system (ANS) responses. However, previous studies investigating music-evoked ANS effects produced inconsistent results.

Isochronous Oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Mathematical Physics, 2021
The authors consider a Hamiltonian system of \(2N+2\) oscillators. They exhibit the solutions of its initial value problem. In the classical context the solutions are completely periodic for arbitrary initial data. In the quantal context the infinitely degenerate spectrum is equispaced. All the corresponding eigenfunctions are also exhibited.

Isochronous cosmologies [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2014
The possibility has been recently demonstrated to manufacture (nonrelativistic, Hamiltonian) many-body problems which feature an isochronous time evolution with an arbitrarily assigned period T yet mimic with good approximation, or even exactly, any given many-body problem (within a large, physically relevant, class) over times [Formula: see text ...

Isochronous Spacetimes [PDF]

open access: yesActa Applicandae Mathematicae, 2014
The possibility has been recently demonstrated to manufacture (nonrelativistic, Hamiltonian) many-body problems which feature an isochronous time evolution with an arbitrarily assigned period $T$ yet mimic with good approximation, or even exactly, any given many-body problem (within a quite large class, encompassing most of nonrelativistic physics ...

Robust Isochron Calculation [PDF]

open access: yesGeochronology, 2020
Abstract. A robust statistics approach to isochron calculations is presented, accompanied by an implementation in Python. It allows isochrons to be calculated for a wider range of datasets than the standard classical statistics approach, assuming that the distribution of uncertainties on the data is slightly fatter-tailed than Gaussian.

Bifurcation of critical periods of a quartic system

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2018
For the polynomial system $\dot x = ix + x \bar x ( a x^2 + b x \bar x + c \bar x^2)$ the study of critical period bifurcations is performed. Using calculations with algorithms of computational commutative algebra it is shown that at most two critical ...

Global Isochronous Potentials [PDF]

open access: yesQualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems, 2013
We present a geometric characterization of the nonlinear smooth functions $V: R\to R$ for which the origin is a global isochronous center for the scalar equation $\ddot x=-V'(x)$. We revisit Stillinger and Dorignac isochronous potentials $V$ and show a new simple explicit family. Implicit examples are easily produced.

Matched Developmental Timing of Donor Cells with the Host Is Crucial for Chimera Formation

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2018
Summary: Chimeric mice have been generated by injecting pluripotent stem cells into morula-to-blastocyst stage mouse embryo or by introducing more mature cells into later stage embryos that correspond to the differentiation stage of the donor cells.
