Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing of Soft Robotic Systems: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, Volume 2, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review explores the transformative role of multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) in the development of soft robotic systems. It presents current techniques, materials, and design strategies that enable functionally graded and adaptive structures.

An isogeometric analysis for elliptic homogenization problems

open access: yes, 2013
A novel and efficient approach which is based on the framework of isogeometric analysis for elliptic homogenization problems is proposed. These problems possess highly oscillating coefficients leading to extremely high computational expenses while using ...

Subdivision isogeometric analysis: a todo list

open access: yesDolomites Research Notes on Approximation, 2022
Summary: Subdivision techniques are natural when extending isogeometric analysis beyond regular grid control nets, i.e., to integrated design and analysis of irregular layouts in several variables. This report identifies and discusses several challenges that need to be addressed to place the use of subdivision techniques for isogeometric analysis on a ...

Implicit Third‐Order Peer Triplets with Variable Stepsizes for Gradient‐Based Solutions in Large‐Scale ODE‐Constrained Optimal Control

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 570-588, March/April 2026.
Implicit third‐order Peer two‐step methods that are superconvergent for variable stepsizes have the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of solving large‐scale ODE‐constrained optimal control problems. These include real‐world applications in medical treatment planning for prostate cancer, such as the design of effective three‐dose drug ...

Transient analysis of laminated composite plates using NURBS-based isogeometric analysis

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2014
We further study isogeometric approach for response analysis of laminated composite plates using the higher-order shear deformation theory. The present theory is derived from the classical plate theory (CPT) and the shear stress free surface conditions ...

Space-time least-squares isogeometric method and efficient solver for parabolic problems

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we propose a space-time least-squares isogeometric method to solve parabolic evolution problems, well suited for high-degree smooth splines in the space-time domain. We focus on the linear solver and its computational efficiency: thanks to

Optimally refined isogeometric analysis

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2017
Performance of direct solvers strongly depends upon the employed discretization method. In particular, it is possible to improve the performance of solving Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) discretizations by introducing multiple C-continuity hyperplanes that act as separators during LU factorization [8]. In here, we further explore this venue by introducing

Stable isogeometric analysis of trimmed geometries [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2017
We explore extended B-splines as a stable basis for isogeometric analysis with trimmed parameter spaces. The stabilization is accomplished by an appropriate substitution of B-splines that may lead to ill-conditioned system matrices. The construction for non-uniform knot vectors is presented.

Effect of the Strut Thickness on the Mechanical Properties, Deformation, and Failure Mechanisms of Vascular Bundle–Inspired Structures

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
The vascular bundle–inspired structure design involved developing a unit cell and rotating it by 45° for 2D/3D assembly. Unit cells varied in strut thickness (t) from 0.2 to 1.15 mm. Finite element model (FEM) analysis under quasi‐static compression yielded stress–strain curves and stress/strain maps.
