Isolation of biologically active ribonucleic acid from sources enriched in ribonuclease.
Biochemistry, 1979Intact ribonucleic acid (RNA) has been prepared from tissues rich in ribonuclease such as the rat pancreas by efficient homogenization in a 4 M solution of the potent protein denaturant guanidinium thiocyanate plus 0.1 M 2-mercaptoethanol to break ...

AbstractNucleoli are now recognized as multi‐functional nuclear domains involved in several fundamental cell processes such as ribosome biogenesis, regulation of the assembly of non‐ribosomal ribonucleoprotein complexes, tRNA maturation, sequestration of protein, viral infection, and cellular ageing.

In this paper, we focus on concurrent programs that use locks to achieve isolation of data accessed by critical sections of code. We present ISOLATOR, an algorithm that guarantees isolation for well-behaved threads of a program that obey a locking discipline even in the presence of ill-behaved threads that disobey the locking discipline.

E VERY public health nurse, whether she realizes i or not, follows some principles of isolation when she uses her agency's technique in the various homes that she visits. Each day, she practices the technique for preventing the spread of disease as she protects her own clothing and supplies in every home that she enters.

Sixteen patients with pneumaturia as their only urologic complaint were evaluated during a 38-year period. In three patients, a vesico-enteric fistula was documented. Five patients had an otherwise asymptomatic urinary tract infection. In eight patients, no pathologic process could be identified.
