A Simplified Apparatus for the Microbiological Isolation of Calves

British Veterinary Journal, 1976
SUMMARY An isolator has been developed for rearing gnotobiotic and specific pathogen free (SPF) calves. The isolator consisted of relatively cheap components which could be rapidly assembled; the upper half being a flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) canopy clamped to a glass fibre tank.

Forensic microbiology applications: A systematic review.

Legal Medicine, 2019
According to the Human Microbiome Project (HMP), a healthy human body contains ten times more microbes than human cells. Microbial communities colonize different organs of the body, playing fundamental roles both in human health and disease.

Go with the flow or solitary confinement: a look inside the single-cell toolbox for isolation of rare and uncultured microbes.

Current Opinion in Microbiology, 2018
With the vast majority of the microbial world still considered unculturable or undiscovered, microbiologists not only require more fundamental insights concerning microbial growth requirements but also need to implement miniaturized, versatile and high ...

Immunological and microbiological periodontal profiles in isolated growth hormone deficiency

Journal of Periodontology, 2018
AbstractBackgroundGrowth hormone (GH) has been identified as an important regulator of the immune response. We have previously shown that adults with isolated GH deficiency (IGHD) due to a mutation in the GH releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) gene, have a greater chance of having periodontitis. However, the interaction of GH with periodontal tissues is

Microbiological and environmental assessment of human oral dental plaque isolates

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2019
Plaque-related diseases are amongst the most common ailments of the oral cavity. Streptococcus mutans is the causal agent of dental caries in animals and humans and is responsible for the formation and accumulation of plaques. This study aimed to identify and evaluate the role of the dental plaque isolates and its surrounding environment in plaque ...

Microbiological Monitoring of Hepatocyte Isolation in the GMP Laboratory

2009
For clinical hepatocyte transplantation, cells need to be prepared in a sterile GMP environment. Strict regulations are in place that set the standard for this environment that cells are prepared in. These regulations control all aspects of the environment.

Microbiologic Study of Strains of Mycoplasma gallisepticum Isolated in Argentina

Avian Diseases, 1963
Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in chickens and turkeys in Argentina was first reported in previous articles (2,3), which described two enzootics. In June, July, and August, 1962, three farms registered new outbreaks of this disease, from which isolations of M. gallisepticum were made.
