Rhodotorula spp. isolated from blood cultures: clinical and microbiological aspects [PDF]
The emergence of less common fungal pathogens has been increasingly reported in the last decade. We describe 25 cases of Rhodotorula spp. isolated from blood cultures at a large Brazilian tertiary teaching hospital from 1996-2004. We also investigated the in vitro activity of four antifungal drugs, using a standardized method.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Protocol for the cryopreservation of Cryptosporidium isolates using enteroids
Summary: A major bottleneck in the progress of Cryptosporidium research is the lack of accessible cryopreservation of Cryptosporidium oocysts. Here, we present a protocol for the cryopreservation of Cryptosporidium isolates using enteroids.

Isolated Discitis in Melioidosis: An Unknown Presentation and a Microbiological Challenge
Abstract Burkholderia pseudomallei causes Whitmore’s disease or melioidosis which is endemic in many South Asian countries including India. This gram-negative bacterium is frequently found in the moist soil and agricultural workers get infected most commonly.

Assembling a True “Olympic Gel” From over 16 000 Combinatorial DNA Rings
Olympic gels are an elusive class of soft matter, consisting of molecular networks held together purely by mechanically interlocked rings. Their topological structure promises unique properties and functions, but their synthesis has proven notoriously difficult.

Exploitation of Aspergillus terreus for the Production of Natural Statins
The fungus Aspergillus (A.) terreus has dominated the biological production of the “blockbuster” drugs known as statins. The statins are a class of drugs that inhibit HMG-CoA reductase and lead to lower cholesterol production.
