Scaling of internal joint distance in the elbow of small‐ to medium‐sized mammals: Implications for range of motion analyses

We investigated the internal joint distances (IJDs) of the humero‐ulnar and humero‐radial joint, within a sample of 15 small‐ to medium‐sized mammals and report isometric results. We also found that joint poses had no effect on IJDs and that IJDs scale isometrically within small species.

Hoffmann's two‐toed sloth II: Muscle architectural properties in the thoracic limb of Choloepus (Pilosa: Xenarthra)

Two‐toed sloths use their thoracic limbs for more frequent and greater suspensory support than three‐toed sloths and have muscle architectural properties consistent with stability of the pectoral girdle, enhanced flexor force/torque applied at the shoulder and elbow joints, and grip on the support as indicated by their myology. Functional morphology of trabecular bone in the calcaneus of African apes

Scaling relationships between Haversian canal‐to‐secondary osteon and midshaft femur cortical‐to‐total area in a human autopsy sample

Correlation Between the New Bite Force Meter and GC Dental Prescale II

This study evaluated a new one‐sided bite force meter (OBM‐01). In healthy and older adults, the device showed good reliability and moderate correlation with Dental Prescale II measurements. Habitual chewing side bite force was significantly higher, suggesting OBM‐01 may be useful for assessing oral function in clinical settings.

Effects of Meal Consumption on Isotonic Lingual Endurance in Healthy Adults: A Multi‐Institutional Study

Isotonic tongue endurance was measured pre‐ and post‐meal using the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI) in healthy younger (18–35 years) and older (≥ 65 years) adults. Older adults demonstrated greater isotonic endurance and longer mealtimes, with no sex differences in endurance.
