Basal conditions that facilitate fast ice flow are still poorly understood and their parameterization in ice‐flow models results in high uncertainties in ice‐flow and consequent sea‐level rise projections. Direct observations of basal conditions beneath modern ice streams are limited due to the inaccessibility of the bed.

Comparing the morphological variation of North American collared lemming with climatic and geographic features, as well as genetic insight and the ice sheet extend, indicate the strong geographic structure underlying the morphological diversity of the genus, that might be linked with a local Pleistocene survival in the High Arctic.

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1976In isometric contractions of the plantar flexors (5–40% of maximal tension, Tmax), VO2 is linearly related to the force exerted, averaging 2 ml/min-kg of tension.
