Quadriceps Oxygenation during Isometric Exercise in Sailing
The aim of the present study was to investigate why blood lactate after prolonged quadriceps contraction during hiking is only marginally increased. Eight sailors performed five 3-min hiking bouts interspersed with 5-s recovery periods. Whole body oxygen uptake, heart rate and lactate were recorded, along with continuous-wave near-infrared spectroscopy

Autonomic Mechanisms in Hemodynamic Responses to Isometric Exercise [PDF]
Selective autonomic blockade with intravenous propranolol, practolol, atropine, and combined atropine-propranolol was utilized to elucidate the role of the autonomic nervous system in the hemodynamic responses in young adult male volunteers to handgrip sustained at 30% of maximal voluntary contraction for 3 min.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Continuous cardiac autonomic and haemodynamic responses to isometric exercise in females [PDF]
Purpose: Hypertension is associated with impaired haemodynamic control mechanisms and autonomic dysfunction. Isometric exercise (IE) interventions have been shown to improve autonomic modulation and reduce blood pressure (BP) in predominantly male ...

This work presents a robotic control method for human–robot collaborative assembly based on a biomechanics‐constrained digital human model. Reinforcement learning is used to generate physiologically plausible human motion trajectories, which are integrated into a virtual environment for robot control learning.

Effects of Isometric Exercise on Cardiac Performance [PDF]
Twenty-two patients with heart disease performed a standard isometric exercise, sustained handgrip, during the course of diagnostic cardiac catheterization. During handgrip an increase in mean arterial pressure (average 87 to 104 mm Hg) was noted in all patients.

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Baroreflex and autonomic responses to two equated isometric resistance exercise protocols in females
Different resistance exercise sessions/set configurations seem to lead to distinct hemodynamic, baroreflex, and autonomic responses. Nevertheless, the baroreflex and autonomic reactivities to an equated impulse-to-rest ratio (I:R) isometric exercise ...
