Beta ensembles, quantum Painlevé equations and isomonodromy systems

open access: yes, 2014
This is a review of recent developments in the theory of beta ensembles of random matrices and their relations with conformal filed theory (CFT). There are (almost) no new results here. This article can serve as a guide on appearances and studies of quantum Painlevé and more general multidimensional linear equations of Belavin-Polyakov-Zamolodchikov ...

A Lax Formalism for the Elliptic Difference Painlevé Equation

open access: yes, 2009
A Lax formalism for the elliptic Painlevé equation is presented. The construction is based on the geometry of the curves on P¹ × P¹ and described in terms of the point configurations. This paper is a contribution to the Proceedings of the Workshop ...

Duality for the general isomonodromy problem

open access: yesJournal of Geometry and Physics, 2007
By an extension of Harnad's and Dubrovin's `duality' constructions, the general isomonodromy problem studied by Jimbo, Miwa, and Ueno is equivalent to one in which the linear system of differential equations has a regular singularity at the origin and an irregular singularity at infinity (both resonant).

Schwarz–Christoffel accessory parameter for quadrilaterals via isomonodromy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, 2020
Abstract We develop the recent proposal by the authors to exploit the isomonodromic tau function defined by Jimbo, Miwa and Ueno (JMU) to solve the accessory parameter problem in conformal mapping theory. We focus here on mappings of Schwarz–Christoffel type: in particular, the mapping from the upper half plane to a four-sided polygon
