Potent Antisickling Furaldehyde Analogs for Acute Sickle Cell Therapy: Enhanced Efficacy and Intravenous Formulation Potential

This study reports novel 5‐HMF analogs with potent antisickling activities. Lead compound MMA509 enhances hemoglobin oxygen affinity and prevents erythrocyte sickling.
