Isoproterenol and cardiovascular performance
The American Journal of Medicine, 1964Abstract The effects of isoproterenol on cardiac dynamics and myocardial metabolism have been studied in thirty-seven human subjects and in ten dogs. The responses of subjects with valvular or ischemic heart disease were similar to those of control subjects. Left ventricular mean volume tended to decrease without any change in systolic mean pressure,

Effect of propranolol on the isoproterenol, responses of cortisol, isoproterenol, and aminophylline
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1972Abstract We have studied the effect of propranolol on the eosinopenic responses of cortisol, isoproterenol, and aminophylline. Blood was drawn for a base-line total eosinophil count (TEC) from fasting male volunteers at 8 a.m. followed by propranolol, 40 mg., or a placebo orally.

Atypical Reaction to Isoproterenol
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1969To The Editor:— Isoproterenol hydrochloride has been in use for approximately eight years as a bronchodilator. It is most commonly administered as an aerosol spray from hand nebulizers. While paradoxical reactions have been noted with isoproterenol hydrochloride, 1 to the best of our knowledge no cases of allergy to this drug have been reported ...

Effects of isoproterenol and isoproterenol-phenylephrine aerosols on hypertensive asthmatic patients
Journal of Allergy, 1968Abstract In a double-blind crossover study of 18 hypertensive asthmatic patients, an isoproterenol aerosol caused a drop in diastolic pressure and an elevation of the pulse rate 2 and 5 minutes after its use. A combination isoproterenol-phenylephrine aerosol caused no significant changes in pulse or blood pressure.

Decreased granulocyte response to isoproterenol in asthma during upper respiratory infections.
American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015Isoproterenol inhibits zymosan-stimulated release of lysosomal enzymes from granulocytes. Using this as an in vitro cell model to study beta-adrenergic response, granulocyte reaction to isoproterenol was examined in asthma.

Isoproterenol and aminophylline improve contractility of fatigued canine diaphragm.
American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015We investigated the effects of aminophylline and isoproterenol on diaphragmatic fatigue produced by phrenic stimulation in dogs. With a cast around the abdomen, the diaphragm contracted quasi-isometrically while the thorax was open and the animal was ...

The distribution of nebulized isoproterenol and its effect of regional ventilation and perfusion.
American Review of Respiratory Disease, 2015The distribution of nebulized isoproterenol and its effect on regional ventilation and perfusion were studied. Seven patients with intrinsic asthma underwent spirometry, arterial blood gas determinations, and xenon-133 ventilation and perfusion lung ...

Isoproterenol and Electrocardiographic Findings
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1976Excerpt To the editor: In their recent paper, Shim and Williams (Ann Intern Med83:208-211, 1975) reported that multiple doses of isoproterenol aerosol did not produce cardiac conduction defects, ar...
