New isospin-breaking “USD” Hamiltonians for the sd shell
Physical Review C, 2020Two new USD-type Hamiltonians, USDC and USDI, have been developed that directly incorporate Coulomb and other isospin-breaking interactions. Starting from ab initio interactions, linear combinations of two-body matrix elements were constrained by ...

Isospin and spin-isospin modes in charge-exchange reactions
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999The microscopic structure of the Gamow-Teller resonance (GTR) and spin-dipole resonance (SDR) in Bi-208 has been investigated in the Pb-208(He-3,tp)Pb-207 reaction at E(He-3) = 450 MeV and very forward scattering angles. The partial and total branching ratios and the escape widths for GTR and SDR decay to the residual neutron-hole states in Pb-207 were

In this report, we review the isospin dependence of various forms of the collective flow in heavy-ion reactions from Fermi to relativistic energies. The emphasis will be on suggested possible applications in directly exploring the underlying isovector potential and thus the Equation of State (EoS) of asymmetric nuclear matter, in particular in density ...

Science, 1973
In the article "Isospin in nuclei" by D. Robson [179, 133 (1973)], several incorrect illustrations were included in Fig. 1. The errors include the following: row a, illustration 5; row b, the (6)(3)Li and (6)(5)B illustrations; and row c, the (6)(2)He illustration. A corrected version of Fig. 1 is shown below.

The isospin and isospin-spin polarizations of interacting hadrons
Annals of Physics, 1975In this paper we introduce two new dynamical variables: the isospin polarization and isospin--spin polarization of a hadron in the final state of a given reaction. As an application, the nucleon isospin polarization in pion-- nucleon scattering is studied.

Even-denominator fractional quantum Hall states at an isospin transition in monolayer graphene
Nature Physics, 2017In monolayer graphene, the two inequivalent sublattices of carbon atoms combine with the electron spin to give electrons a nearly fourfold degenerate internal isospin.

Quadrupole Collectivity with Isospin
Physical Review Letters, 1994We study intrinsic aspects of quadrupole collectivity with conserved isospin in the framework of the interacting boson model (IBM-3) of nuclei. A geometric visualization is achieved by means of a novel type of intrinsic states which are deformed in angular momentum yet have well defined isospin.

Hydrodynamic model in isospin channels
Physical Review Letters, 1987The Steinwedel-Jensen hydrodynamic model is generalized to study isovector collective modes excited in charge-exchange reactions. Results are given for the energy splittings between the different isospin components of the giant dipole and monopole resonances recently observed in (p,n) and (..pi../sup +- /,..pi../sup 0/) reactions. The quenching of the .

Reconstruction of isospin and spin-isospin symmetries and double beta decay
Physical Review C, 1990It is shown that the nondynamical violation of the isospin and Wigner SU(4) symmetries, induced by the Hartree-Fock-BCS approximation, can be circumvented by using the quasiparticle random-phase approximation. The suppression mechanism for the \ensuremath{\beta}\ensuremath{\beta}-decay transition rates, proposed by Vogel and Zirnbauer, is found to be ...

The six known leptons and their charge conjugates fall naturally into a simple pattern of classification suggestive of an underlying symmetry that may eventually lead to an uncovering of their dynamical laws. In contrast, the situation is vastly more complex with the hadrons because of their larger number and greater diversity.
