Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Phenol Adsorption from Simulated Wastewater Using Activated Spent Tea Leaves

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
The removal of phenol from wastewater has become a significant environmental concern because of its toxicity, even at low concentrations. This research focuses on the removal of phenol using spent tea leaves (STLs) as an adsorbent.

Path‐Decoupled Cation‐Eutaxy III–V van der Waals Memristive Semiconductors for Mitigating the Neuromorphic Accuracy‐Energy Trade‐off

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Path‐decoupled III–V van der Waals memtransistors spatially separate ionic and electronic transport to overcome the conventional trade‐off between accuracy and energy in neuromorphic hardware. Mobile K+ ions in the vdW gaps set a wide conductance window, Gmax/Gmin, while gate‐tunable hole conduction lowers programming energy, enabling reliable ...

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Additive Manufacturing of Ordered Polymer Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new 3D printing strategy, Polymerization‐Induced Arrangement of Nanostructures with Order‐tunability (PIANO), enables the formation of ordered nanostructures in polymer materials by enhancing chain mobility during photopolymerization, overcoming the kinetic arrest that leads to disordered morphologies in the conventional Polymerization‐Induced ...

Mechanism‐Driven Nanoformulations for Cognitive Impairment Induced by Intermittent Hypoxia and Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Clinically, intermittent hypoxia (IH) is often accompanied by periodontitis, which accelerates cognitive impairment induced by IH. Novel Janus mesoporous gold‐silica nanoformulations (RVG‐Au&mSiO2‐TPP‐VB) enable intranasal delivery, achieve hierarchical targeting to neuronal mitochondria, effectively scavenge reactive oxygen species, inhibit the HIF‐1α/

Equilibrium isotherm studies for the sorption of divalent metal ions onto peat: Copper, nickel and lead single component systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]The sorption of three divalent metal ions – copper, nickel and lead – from aqueous solution onto peat in single component systems has been studied and the equilibrium isotherms determined.

Evolution‐Driven Bio‐Composite Aerogels for Self‐Adaptive Thermal Regulation and Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by nature's multiphase integration, a single chitosan (CTS)–metal chloride (MCl3) coordination precursor is engineered to enable sequential material and functional evolution. The resulting metal ion‐coordinated chitosan (CTS–M) aerogels exhibit humidity‐adaptive thermal insulation for battery safety, while carbonization yields conductive ...

Estimation of adsorption isotherm parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The project aims to evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of two commonly used adsorption isotherm parameters estimation methods, frontal analysis and binary retention time methods, to estimate the parameters of a competitive Langmuir isotherm ...
