Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Modeling static recrystallization during non-isothermal heating in biomedical Mg-1Zn-0.2Ca magnesium alloy based on isothermal kinetic data

open access: yesResults in Engineering
A novel analytical model is proposed to predict the kinetics of static recrystallization (SRX) during non-isothermal annealing, based on isothermal experimental data.

The Effect of Stepped Austempering on Phase Composition and Mechanical Properties of Nanostructured X37CrMoV5-1 Steel

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2015
This paper presents the results of studies of X37CrMoV5-1 steel subjected to quenching processes with a one-step and a two-step isothermal annealing. The TEM observation revealed that steel after one-step treatment led is composed of carbide-free bainite

Pore Size Effects of Mesoporous N‐Doped Carbon Nanospheres as Advanced Support Material on the Activity of Molybdenum Sulfide Catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By tuning the pore size of mesoporous N‐doped carbon (MPNC) nanospheres as support material for molybdenum sulfide, the electrochemical activity of the composite material for the hydrogen evolution reaction can be optimized. An ideal MPNC pore size of 60 nm allows a high number of molybdenum sulfide active sites while maintaining efficient proton and ...

A comparison between the morphology of semicrystalline polymer blends of poly(ε-caprolactone)/poly(vinyl methyl ether) and poly(ε-caprolactone)/(styrene-acrylonitrile) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The morphology of polymer blends of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) is compared with that of PCL and a random copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile (SAN).

Isothermal annealing of hillocks in AlCu films

open access: yesThin Solid Films, 1989
Abstract Vapor deposited Al-15 wt.% Cu films were formed on oxidized silicon substrates at room temperature. Subsequent heating of these samples resulted in the formation of copper-rich hillocks on the surface of the films because of compressive, substrate-induced differential thermal expansion strains.

Isothermal annealing influence on structural defects and some characteristics of Bismuth Telluride wire crystals

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2007
Possibilities to control microdefect formation in bismuth telluride wire crystals by choice of optimal modes of isothermal annealing are discussed. It is found that a decrease of density of structural defects, such as microcracks, dislocations, and ...

From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.
