The influence mechanism of thermal invasion on spontaneous combustion of different coals using continuous adiabatic heating and non-isothermal oxidation method

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Within deep coal mines, the elevated ground temperature has the potential to induce thermal invasion, thereby exacerbating coal spontaneous combustion (CSC).

Isothermal oxidation behavior of the TZAV-20 alloy

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2015
Abstract Oxidation behavior is important for secure and long-life service of metals and alloys. The isothermal oxidation behavior of the Ti–20Zr–6.5Al–4V alloy at 470 to 670 °C was investigated. The kinetics analysis shows that the oxidation of TZAV-20 alloy below 570 °C accords with the parabolic law.

Balancing Hydrophobicity and Hydrophilicity: Dual Filler‐Engineered Proton Exchange Membranes for Durable, High‐Power Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐matched Zr–MOFs program Nafion's nanoscale morphology during solution casting. Hydrophilic UiO‐66 preserves hydrated pathways, while hydrophobic UiO‐67 increases the proton hopping sites by densifying ionic clusters. Combining both fillers yields a membrane that delivers 176 mS cm−1 conductivity, reaches 1.46 W cm−2 under 200 kPa, and triples ...

Non-Parabolic Isothermal Oxidation Kinetics of Low Pressure Plasma Sprayed MCrAlY Bond Coat

open access: yesInternational Thermal Spray Conference, 2017
The non-parabolic isothermal oxidation kinetics of low pressure plasma sprayed MCrAlY bond coat was investigated. To qualitatively explain the abnormal growth phenomenon of thermally grown oxides (TGO), the changes that occurred to their microstructure

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

Isothermal Chemisorption upon Oxide-Supported Platinum

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 1984
The extent of isothermal chemisorption (q in μmol g −1 ) of gaseous carbon monoxide, oxygen, and hydrogen on the surfaces of platinum crystallites supported upon silica, alumina, titania, molybdena, tungsta and sodium-tungsten bronzes has been investigated at 77–523 K and 0–5 kPa.

Multistage, Self‐Sensing Artificial Muscles With Coordination From Liquid Crystal Elastomer‐Graphene Composite Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by skeletal muscles’ precision and endurance, CoilLCE integrates a self‐sensing liquid crystal elastomer/graphene artificial muscle with an embedded Joule‐heating copper coil, enabling closed‐loop multistage actuation with programmable intermediate states (strain accuracy of 2%), and antagonistic coordination (32% total strain). These features

Anisotropic Phonon Dynamics and Directional Transport in Actinide Van der Waals Semiconductor Uranium Triselenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
USe3 is introduced as an actinide van der Waals semiconductor that mirrors the quasi‐one‐dimensional physics of transition‐metal trichalcogenides. Polarization‐resolved Raman spectroscopy on exfoliated flakes maps strong in‐plane phonon anisotropy and strain‐tunable mode shifts.

CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)
