On isotopisms and strong isotopisms of commutative presemifields [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Combinatorics, 2011
In this paper we prove that the $P(q,\ell)$ ($q$ odd prime power and $\ell>1$ odd) commutative semifields constructed by Bierbrauer in \cite{BierbrauerSub} are isotopic to some commutative presemifields constructed by Budaghyan and Helleseth in \cite{BuHe2008}.

Potential use of winter green manure species for nitrogen recycling by ‘Niagara Rosada’ grapevines [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2014
Green manures have become an important option for recycling nutrients in organic cropping. However, its benefits are often not obtained in the short term.

Source identification of methane in groundwater in shale gas development areas: A critical review of the state of the art, prospects, and future challenges

open access: yesJournal of Groundwater Science and Engineering, 2021
Shale gas exploration and development carry the risk of causing groundwater contamination and enhancing the greenhouse effect through methane leakage. Identifying the source of abnormal methane in groundwater of shale gas development areas is becoming a ...

Evaluation of GC/MS-Based 13C-Positional Approaches for TMS Derivatives of Organic and Amino Acids and Application to Plant 13C-Labeled Experiments

open access: yesMetabolites, 2023
Analysis of plant metabolite 13C-enrichments with gas-chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) has gained interest recently. By combining multiple fragments of a trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivative, 13C-positional enrichments can be calculated. However, this

Chlorine isotope composition in chlorofluorocarbons CFC-11, CFC-12 and CFC-113 in firn, stratospheric and tropospheric air [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The stratospheric degradation of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) releases chlorine, which is a major contributor to the destruction of stratospheric ozone (O3).

Assessment of groundwater quality in hard rock aquifer of central Telangana state for drinking and agriculture purposes

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2018
Quality assessment of groundwater for drinking and irrigation was evaluated in parts of Nalgonda district of Telangana state, India. The overall groundwater quality and the suitability to drinking and irrigation were evaluated by hydrochemical analysis ...

Effects of spawning Pacific salmon on terrestrial invertebrates: Insects near spawning habitat are isotopically enriched with nitrogen‐15 but display no differences in body size

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
When Pacific salmon (Oncorhynchus spp.) spawn and die, they deliver marine‐derived nutrient subsidies to freshwater and riparian ecosystems. These subsidies can alter the behavior, productivity, and abundance of recipient species and their habitats ...

The mechanism of oxygen isotope fractionation during N2O production by denitrification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The isotopic composition of soil-derived N2O can help differentiate between N2O production pathways and estimate the fraction of N2O reduced to N2. Until now, δ18O of N2O has been rarely used in the interpretation of N2O isotopic signatures because of ...

Small differences in root distributions allow resource niche partitioning

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
Deep roots have long been thought to allow trees to coexist with shallow‐rooted grasses. However, data demonstrating how root distributions affect water uptake and niche partitioning are uncommon.
