An interfacial isotope effect [PDF]

open access: possibleNature, 1974
RADIOACTIVE carbon is utilised commonly to tag compounds used in interfacial studies. As is usual in studies with isotopes of carbon, it has been assumed tacitly that the radioactive surfactant behaves exactly like the untagged or inactive compound.

Comparison of isotope effects on thermal conductivity of graphene nanoribbons and carbon nanotubes

, 2013
By using molecular dynamics simulation, we explore the isotope effect on thermal conductivity of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs).

The physical chemistry of mass-independent isotope effects and their observation in nature.

Annual review of physical chemistry (Print), 2012
Historically, the physical chemistry of isotope effects and precise measurements in samples from nature have provided information on processes that could not have been obtained otherwise.

Mechanism from Isotope Effects

Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies, 1998
Abstract Isotope effects represent perhaps one of the most versatile tools available to investigators interested in the determination of reaction mechanism, particularly in the case of the mechanistic enzymologist. Interpretation of isotope effect data is somewhat more difficult for enzyme reactions, since the chemical or isotope-dependent step(s) is(

Extending limits of chlorine kinetic isotope effects.

Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2012
Chlorine kinetic isotope effects exceeding semiclassical limits were observed in enzyme-catalyzed reactions, but their source has not been yet identified.

Isotope Effects in Enzymology

2018
So far we saw how chemically identical behavior of isotopes is exploited in elucidating enzyme mechanisms. Despite their remarkable chemical similarity, isotopic substitution does affect reaction rates that directly involve them. Isotopic substitution can influence the equilibrium position, affect reaction rate, or both.

Magnetic isotope effect

Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry, 1995
The electron spin selectivity of radical reactions is accompanied by nuclear spin selectivity, i.e., sorting of the isotopic nuclei relative to their magnetic moment. This property of spin-selective reactions produces separation of magnetic and nonmagnetic isotopes known as the magnetic isotope effect.

Isotope effects on binding

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1996
Abstract Several recent reports on isotope effects in processes of binding ligands (inhibitors, coenzymes, and reactants) to enzymes challenge the dogma that such processes do not exhibit a measurable isotopic fractionation. The origin and consequences of studying enzymic reaction mechanisms of binding isotope effects are discussed herein.
