Isotope effects and Alfvén eigenmode stability in JET H, D, T, DT, and He plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
While much about Alfvén eigenmode (AE) stability has been explored in previous and current tokamaks, open questions remain for future burning plasma experiments, especially regarding exact stability threshold conditions and related isotope effects; the ...

Unusual temperature dependence of the oxygen-isotope effect on the exchange-energy of $La_{1-x}Ca_xMnO_3$ at high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We report magnetic susceptibility $\chi(T)$ measurements on oxygen-isotope exchanged La$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$MnO$_{3+y}$ up to 700 K. The $1/\chi(T)$ data show that the ferromagnetic exchange-energy $J$ depends strongly on the oxygen-isotope mass. The isotope effect on $J$ decreases with temperature up to 400 K and then increases again with temperature above

Deformation effects on the surface neutron densities of stable S and Ni isotopes probed by proton elastic scattering via isotopic analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
To extract structure information from proton elastic scattering off S isotopes at 320 MeV and Ni isotopes at $E_p=180$ MeV, this study proposes isotopic analyses combining nuclear structure and reaction calculations. The isotonic analysis was repeated on $^{48}$Ca and $^{50}$Ti.

On the frequency and isotope effect in sonochemistry

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 1997
In the first part of the work, it was observed, by a relative method, that the Weissler reaction and the Br2-catalysed isomerisation of maleic acid into fumaric acid are faster at 20 kHz than at 1.7 MHz. The difference between the relative reaction rates can be considered as small when the two order magnitude difference between the two frequencies is ...

Designing of Self‐Dispersing Soft Dendritic Microcleaners for Microplastics Capture and Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The capture and recovery of microplastics from open aquatic systems is a complex problem, which necessitates nontrivial solutions. The principles of a comprehensive multistage process based on sustainably sourced microcleaners with hierarchical morphology are demonstrated.

Dependence between the photochemical age of light aromatic hydrocarbons and the carbon isotope ratios of atmospheric nitrophenols [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2019
Concepts were developed to establish relationships between the stable carbon isotope ratios of nitrophenols in the atmosphere and the photochemical processing of their precursors, light aromatic volatile organic compounds.

Study on Separation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Soils for Compound-specific Carbon Isotope Analysis

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2021
BACKGROUND Tracing the source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) by the compound-specific carbon isotope is becoming increasingly popular. For precise carbon isotope analysis, a pretreatment process is required to reduce co-outflow and unresolved

Isotope effect in superconductors with coexisting interactions of phonon and nonphonon mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Soc. Jpn. Vol.72, No.8 (2003) pp.1851-1854., 2003
We examine the isotope effect of superconductivity in systems with coexisting interactions of phonon and nonphonon mechanisms in addition to the direct Coulomb interaction. The interaction mediated by the spin fluctuations is discussed as an example of the nonphonon interaction. Extended formulas for the transition temperature Tc and the isotope-effect

Discovery of an Intrinsic Antiferromagnetic Semiconductor EuSc2Te4 With Magnetism‐Driven Nonlinear Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
EuSc₂Te₄, an antiferromagnetic semiconductor, exhibits a nonlinear Hall effect (NLHE) characterized by quadratic current–voltage behavior. Combined experimental and theoretical studies reveal that this NLHE is linked to its antiferromagnetism and involves contributions from the quantum metric.

Equilibrium and kinetic isotope effects in heterogeneous catalysis: A density functional theory perspective

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2023
Isotopes are indispensable tools for elucidating catalytic reaction mechanisms. Yet, computational isotopic studies in heterogeneous catalysis remain scarce, especially when compared with other subfields of chemistry.
