Atomic isotopic ratio measurements
Separating stars enriched in the s- and r-processes of nucleosynthesis is usually done by analysing element ratios of ”mainly s-process” elements (like Ba or La) to ”mainly r-process” elements (like Eu). The situation gets more complex when analysing CEMP-rs stars, which are Carbon-Enriched Metal-Poor objects enriched in a mixture of s- and r-elements.

The Role of Peridotite for Oceanic Volcanism
The complementary products of oceanic crust formation are compositionally variable melt‐depleted peridotites. Together with the oceanic crust, the melt‐depleted peridotites are continuously recycled back into the mantle.

Equations for lipid normalization of carbon stable isotope ratios in aquatic bird eggs. [PDF]
Stable isotope ratios are biogeochemical tracers that can be used to determine the source of nutrients and contaminants in avian eggs. However, the interpretation of stable carbon ratios in lipid-rich eggs is complicated because (13)C is depleted in ...

Combination of carbon isotope ratio with hydrogen isotope ratio determinations in sports drug testing [PDF]
Carbon isotope ratio (CIR) analysis has been routinely and successfully applied to doping control analysis for many years to uncover the misuse of endogenous steroids such as testosterone. Over the years, several challenges and limitations of this approach became apparent, e.g., the influence of inadequate chromatographic separation on CIR values or ...

The brain is highly enriched in the long-chain omega-3 (n-3) PUFA DHA. Due to the limited capacity for local DHA synthesis in the brain, it relies on a continual supply from the circulation to replenish metabolized DHA.
