Industrial separation of oxygen isotopes by oxygen distillation

Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, 2019
18O‐labeled water (Water‐18O) is a widely used starting material of 18F‐labeled diagnostic agents in positron emission tomography (PET). Conventionally, Water‐18O has been separated from other stable oxygen isotope species (16O, 17O) by water distillation or nitric oxide distillation. However, conventional methods are costly and may have safety issues.

Preparation of high-precision CO2 with known triple oxygen isotope for oxygen isotope analysis

Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies, 2021
The objective of this work is to propose a more effective way to prepare an in-house CO2 with known triple oxygen isotope compositions. The major experimental steps include: (1) the O2 is combusted to CO2 on a graphite rod at 750 °C with Pt-catalyst for 3-4 min; and (2) converted CO2 is subsequently purified by two cryogenic traps.

OXYGEN ISOTOPIC STUDIES OF AMPHIBOLITES

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1965
The whole-rock oxygen isotope ratios of amphibolites from a variety of localities have been studied in an attempt to distinguish para-amphibolites from ortho-amphibolites. If para-amphibolites were derived from a pelite–carbonate mixture or any carbonate-bearing sedimentary rock, they should be enriched in18O relative to basaltic parents. Exchange with

Oxygen Isotopes of Chondritic Components

Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry, 2008
We review the oxygen isotopic compositions of chondrite components (refractory inclusions, chondrules, and matrix) and their inter- and intra- crystalline oxygen isotopic distributions. Primary oxygen isotopic compositions, acquired before planetesimal accretion, are easily disturbed by parent-body processes such as aqueous alternation and thermal ...

Theory of oxygen isotope exchange

Solid State Ionics, 2001
Transients for oxygen molecular mass numbers 32, 34 and 36 are derived which can be used for the interpretation of oxygen isotope exchange data based on measurement of concentrations of 16O2, 16O18O and 18O2 in the gas phase. Key parameters in the theory are the rate at which oxygen molecules are subjected to the exchange process at the oxide surface ...
