Oxygen isotope exchange in oxygen-bearing compounds of uranium
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry, 1965Isotope exchange is reported for gaseous oxygen in contact with the following uranium compounds: α-Na2UO4, Β-Na2UO4, Na2U2O7, UO3(A), γ-UO3, α-UO2.94 and U3O8.; qualitative tests have also been done with UO2F2 and Cs2UO2Cl4. The times of half-exchange have been determined as functions of temperature for U3O8, α-UO2.94, Na2U2O7 and Β-Na2UO4; diffusion ...

Determination of Atomic Oxygen in Atmospheric Plasma from Oxygen Isotope Exchange
Plasma Processes and Polymers, 2011AbstractOxygen scrambling is observed when a 1:1 mixture of 16O2 and 18O2 in nitrogen/helium buffer (total O2: 5–20%) is treated at atmospheric pressure in a surface discharge plasma reactor. The statistical isotope distribution (16O2/18O2/16O18O = 1:1:2) is achieved with a very low SIE (i.e., the energy per unit volume).

Oxygen isotope evolution of Phanerozoic seawater
Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 1997Abstract A compilation of over 2000 measurements of 18O and 13C on Phanerozoic low-Mg calcite shells, such as brachiopods, belemnites and oysters, delineates secular 18O/16O and 13C/12C variations that are similar to those previously described for whole rocks. The trend for the δ18O suggests about ∼5±2‰ enrichment from the Cambrian to today.

ArF laser enrichment of oxygen isotopes
Applied Physics Letters, 1977Absorption by air in the optical cavity of an ArF discharge laser removes the 16O2 Schumann-Runge lines from the broad lasing output centered at 193 nm. Subsequent irradiation of an oxygen cell induces photochemistry of 17O and 18O, resulting in isotopically enriched ozone.

Fractionation of Oxygen Isotopes Due to Equilibration of Oxygen with Hemoglobin
1989The aim of the study was to answer the question as to whether the chemical reaction of oxygen with hemoglobin exhibits a source of isotopic fractionation, which could be of significance in forming the overall fractionation effect of respiration recently determined in man.

Electrolytic Separation of the Oxygen Isotopes
Nature, 1935WASHBURN and Urey1 first directed attention to the fact that fractionation of the isotopes of oxygen occurs simultaneously with that of the hydrogen isotopes during the electrolysis of water. The electrolytic separation coefficient for the oxygen isotopes has been determined in a series of experiments carried out in the Research Laboratories of ...
