Understanding Decoherence of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
State‐of‐the‐art computations unravel the intricate decoherence dynamics of the boron vacancy center in hexagonal boron nitride across magnetic fields from 0 to 3 T. Five distinct regimes emerge, dominated by nuclear spin interactions, revealing optimal coherence times of 1–20 µs in the 180–350 mT range for isotopically pure samples.

Isotopes in hydrology and hydrogeology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The structure, status, and processes of the groundwater system, which can only be acquired through scientific research efforts, are critical aspects of water resource management. Isotope hydrology and hydrogeology is a genuinely interdisciplinary science.

Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister

Low-Lying 2+ states in neutron-rich oxygen isotopes in quasiparticle random phase approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The properties of the low-lying, collective 2+ states in neutron-rich oxygen isotopes are investigated in the framework of self-consistent microscopic models with effective Skyrme interactions. In RPA the excitation energies E2+ can be well described but

Universal In Situ Isotope Exchange Raman Spectroscopy (IERS) Methodology for Measuring Oxygen Surface Exchange Dynamics Using a Probe Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bespoke multilayer thin film configuration has been designed, which overcomes the material dependency of conventional isotope exchange Raman spectroscopy (IERS). This universal IERS methodology is efficient, non‐destructive and provides additional structural information and time resolution, which can be further extended to various isotopic elements ...

Evolution of the pygmy dipole resonance in nuclei with neutron excess

open access: yes, 2009
The electric dipole excitation of various nuclei is calculated with a Random Phase Approximation phenomenological approach. The evolution of the strength distribution in various groups of isotopes, oxygen, calcium, zirconium and tin, is studied.

Harmonizing the Pyrene and Ether Groups in Covalent Triazine Polymers for Highly Effective H2O2 Photosynthesis via One‐Step Two‐Electron Oxygen Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The pyrene and ether groups are incorporated into the covalent triazine polymer (CTP) structure. The synergistic effect of the two functional groups endows CTP with better electron transfer, light absorption, and oxygen activation properties. An impressive apparent quantum yield (13.2% @420 nm) and a remarkable solar‐to‐chemical conversion efficiency ...

The vertical distribution of iron stable isotopes in the North Atlantic near Bermuda [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Seawater dissolved iron isotope ratios (δ^(56)Fe) have been measured in the North Atlantic near Bermuda. In a full-depth profile, seawater dissolved δ^(56)Fe is isotopically heavy compared to crustal values throughout the water column (δ^(56)Fe_(IRMM-014)
